They had their chances near the first half and just couldn't finish. That second goal by Slovenia was a back breaker. If they don't win this game, there is a good chance they will not make it out of group play. The US has it in them to come back. They scored an early goal. But now they need another goal. If the US can get a second goal soon, I think they could get a third goal and win this game.

I was. The US won this game. The ref made bad calls all day. The whistle on the third US goal was a disgrace. If the whistle was going to blow, it should have been against the Slovenia defender who wrapped his arms around our guy and held on. That should have been a red card and a penalty shot. But since the US had the advantage, the goal should have counted.

I agree. That was a game changing call, and it wasn't fair. I want to know what the ref has to say about it. I'm assuming someone will do an interview with him. I still can't figure out what he was trying to call.

World Cup: FIFA Drops Referee Koman Coulibaly

Theres been much speculation as to the fate of African World Cup referee Koman Coulibaly after his blown call in the U.S.A.s last match against Slovenia.

Today FIFA finally officially responded to the matter, if not indirectly, by not assigning Coulibaly to the next round of World Cup matches. (Matches 33-40.)

That was a beautiful goal. I am so glad I went into the break room to watch the last 8-10 minutes of the game. The US was robbed early and could have won this game 3-0. But I will take the win!

I like seeing Australia winning. Especially when they were so far behind. But I think they need a few more goals to make it in.

Australia is up by two. But the goal differential before the game started was -4. That is really hard to recover from. I expect Ghana and Germany to move on with Germany winning the group.

I looked at the schedule about ten minutes ago and saw that the US play Saturday at 2:30. That would normally be great. However, guess who has tickets to the baseball game on Saturday? Yep, that's right. I do. The only tickets I have for this year. And it is a 4pm game. no.gif Big sad face.

Yeah, we have to go to a camp out music fest thing all day Saturday. Normally I'd be stoked, but we just went camping last weekend. I'd rather stay home and go to the bar to watch the game with a big group of friends than sit around in the heat waiting for the one band we came to see with a whole bunch of people we don't know and only 2 people we do. But we already committed, and I don't think Brian wants to skip out on that.
