BREW CREW - Wild Card? - COULD HAPPEN!!!!

I'm starting to become a beleiver!

Another big win today at home. Most of our upcoming games are at home where we have one of the best records in the NL.

Our young rookies JJ Hardy & Rickie Weeks continue to prove they're for real, Prince Fielder will be back soon and this time for good (he's TEARING it up at triple A), our pitching staff is solid, Carlos Lee still leads the NL in RBI's.

Without even playing all that well up to this point we're only 5 and a half off the pace for the wild card!

I have a feeling, this club may contend for the wild card this year, and next year is going to be our break-through season.

JD, Somechick? What think you?

One game within .500 this far into the season- I am feeling good about it! If we win this afternoon, the team is playing .500 ball! FINALLY the pitching is getting the run support they need!

Yeah, okay. Thier chances are about as good as my Phillies getting a wildcard spot.

But good luck trying.

I will admit that my baseball knowledge is painfully lax since switching to hockey, but here's a question.  What do your top four batters look like?  The Cubs got downed by the Marlins in their last playoff run because Florida had a classic front 4.  Batter one was a great base stealer, batter 2 was a consistant single/double hitter, 3 and 4 had power and finese at the plate.  Have you got that cookin' in M'waukee?

You know Wefter, WE DO!

Brady Clark leads off, he's been amazing. Leads the league in multi-hit games, and second in over-all hits. Not a super-speedy guy, but saavy enough to be the lead-off hitter.

Our number two guy is a bit of a wild card, only in that he probably will eventually be lower in the lineup because of his power. He's a rookie who's a pure hitter (Rickie Weeks) that has super quick hands and can hit the ball a mile.

In the number three spot is Lyle overbay, a classic doubles hitter that led the league in that category last year while hitting 300. He started slow this year, but he's hot now and well on his way to getting back to that .300+ average (along with nice power numbers).

In cleanup is Carlos Lee, the NL's leading RBI hitter (which tells you that the guys before him are getting on base regularly) with about 25 dingers and a respectable batting average hovering around 270.

I've been saying all year I don't understand how this team was losing. We're fairly strong at every position and haven't had a lot of injuries, plus our pitching has been top three in the NL all year long.

I think it's just been that they're not mature enough yet, they've lost probably 5 - 7 games on fundamental mistakes that a team like the Cardinals simply wouldn't make. That's a 10 - 14 game swing in your won loss record. If this club had been 2 years older this season I can't see how we wouldn't have been 60 - 40 or better right now, instead of 50-51.

Regardless of what happens this year, next year we will be a contender.
