RE: CNN Breaking news...

Yeah, I was being flip with the regime change comment Mz. I know that's not going to happen, because as you point out it's far too big a job.

But we just really need to rethink our approach to trying to solve hunger, because there's absolutely no way we will do it by supplying food or finances.

feeding them or teaching them to feed themselves is the first step.

and yes that is a band aid and a short term solution. But stats say a child dies every three seconds due to starvation and malnutrition. They don't have time for a regime change.

What are the stats on how often another child they can't feed is born? I don't have those numbers handy but I know it's a major part of their problem. They're producing children at an astronomical rate even though they know they can't feed them, how sick is that?

Meanwhile the rest of the world is the bad guy because we don't CARE ENOUGH.

I gotta go to work

Riggs you and I are such on the oppositte ends of politics.

THey have children so that they have something to live for, to strive for and to love, if even for awhile.

OH MY GOD!

I can't beleive you can POSSIBLY beleive that!!!

They have children because they have nothing better to do than screw throughout the day!

NO ONE would bring a child they KNOW they can't care for into this world out of LOVE!

You are right about one thing though, you and I could not possibly be more on the opposite ends of the political spectrum

Listeners, let me tell you, it would have made for some GOOD broadcasting if you could have heard the discussions JD & I had during the 2004 campaign. Before every one of JD's shows we'd have about an hour debate. Poor JD had to put up with me putting BUSH/CHENEY cards on the walls of the studio, I even went so far as to get a GW cardboard Stand-Up in the studio just to rattle him

But I'll say this, and I mean this from the heart, even though JD & I could not disagree more on politics, we have always been able to have the most heated debate without letting it affect our friendship. When we're done debating we have couple beers and talk about that Packers.

It's cool to know people that are passionate about their views, but don't feel they have to force you to see it their way. Debate it, then let it go. That's our motto, right buddy?

Of course, it's easy for me to say that, since I'm always right

This is very true. We have so much more in common and friendship. I forgive Riggs for being wrong, and we move on!

Hey JD, one of the things that drives me insane when trying to debate politics with people is that they love to throw out statistics that either aren't true or are highly manipulated.

For example, did you know that when you read the stats about smoking related deaths in this country that the number is not actually based upon deaths directly attributed to smoking, but rather all deaths that COULD have been impacted by smoking?

Anyway, the point I'm getting at is that as I drove around this morning that number you threw out there, that one child dies every three seconds from malnutrition in Africa seemed to get harder and harder to beleive. Not, of course, that one child dying every ten seconds is any better, but still, I'm curious as to the legitimacy of the stat.

May I inquire as to where you heard it, so that I may seek out this information for myself, and see if there is more to the number than what it suggests on it's face?

Live 8 did a promo film and had that stat. I knew at one time the estimate was 28,0000 a week- not sure if that equates to the 3 a second math. Probably there is info on live8.com?
