The Birds

Last night I was outside- I had some left over mixed nuts from Christmas that I thought maybe the birds might like. No sooner did I toss out a handfull on the patio, did all sorts of birds swoop down and eat these things. There were a couple of cardinals, a bunch of sparrows, and then a blue jay came and scared them all away. They came back once the jay was gone, and finished the rest of the nuts.

WHat struck me was just how observant these birds were. You hear them up in the trees, going about their business etc. But it was almost instantaneously that they saw the nuts and swarmed on them.

SO the moral of the story, I guess, if there is one, is that when you think you are alone outside, you are not. Birds are watching you. Think I'll rent that Hitchcock film tonight........

That is another thing I miss about wisconsin.  I lived on the northeast side close to Doctors Park and that bird sanctuary.  I loved seeing the Blue Jays and Cardinals.  I hated those red wing black birds.  too noisy.  All I see here are sparrows and crows.  Occasionally a hawk and at night we get bats everywhere.

Doctors Park is Great CP- that's where I go when I need some beach time. Gimme that over the crowds at Bradford any day!

I used to be stupid enough to swim in that cold water too.  did you ever try the polar bears club?  I did once.  Beyond foolish.

Nah- a few years back tho we had spent new years eve at Steny's- where they meet, and rode down to watch them turkeys do that. Nuts, absolutely nuts. We got in on the free breakfast too afterwards; didn't have to get wet even for that....
