Good morning. The chiefs are all out for the week, vacationing somewhere in cowboy land, so this should be a slack week around the office. I think I will use the time to organize some file cabinets and closets.

Hi all! Got back yesterday from my camping trip. It was great to be back up in the big woods on Lake Superior and commune with nature for the past 9 days, but my own bed sure felt good last night! I've got just enough time this week to grocery shop, do laundry, and pack up again......leaving Thursday night to go up to the cabin until August 1st.
Just wanted to stop by, say hello, and catch up with everybody. Hope everyone has a good day.
Morning all. I am currently buried under some paperwork and checks that have to go out for quarter end. It should be a better week for me. The boss is gone and the pain that sits next to me is on vacation this week.
Work on.

I have to say, this shift change at work seems to be making a HUGE difference in my daily mood. Besides the fact the work is easier so I'm not quite so tired every day, my weekends feel so much longer.
Instead of feeling like I only get 1 full day off, it actually feels more like I get 3 days off every weekend now. I like it!
MZ: I hope you had a great birthday weekend.
GHOST: Did you come back full of skeeter bites? I imagine with all the rain this summer they must be horrible in the wooded areas. They're much worse than normal in town.
Good day, all. I'm actually not minding the Monday so much this week. I kind of needed a break from my weekend. It wasn't bad, just very busy.
We had a nasty storm roll through Friday night. It did a lot of damage around my area. My house and trees did okay, the worst of it for me was picking up all of the stuff on my patio and cleaning up some branches in the yard. I spent quite a bit of time on Saturday helping my neighbor, Guz, cut down some damaged branches on a tree between his house and our other neighbor's house. Getting all of that cut up and bundled for the yard waste collection folks took a while. Got done with that, ate some supper, then went back out and mowed my yard. I spent Sunday cutting some dead branches out of the trees in my yard so that I won't have to worry about them later. At this point, I'm a lot tired of being a lumberjack.
Also spent Saturday morning (before lumberjacking) getting more replacement windows and siding for the house... which meant cleaning out the garage AGAIN to get that stuff in there until it is used. That was a good bit of work by itself! Oh yeah... the temps all weekend here were 95* - 99* and the heat index was somewhere around 105*.
Heat index for today... 110*. I love summer.

Good to see we didn't need to bail you out this weekend M.
Had the chain saw been running, it might have been a different story! Interestingly enough, I did make dude fix it because Guz wants to cut down some more branches next weekend. All I need now is a wood chipper and a pig farm.
JR... I'll take a heat index of 110* over a wind chill factor of -10* or better any day.

I have to admit that as I've gotten older the cold is bothering me much more than it has in the past. But I'd still take extreme cold over extreme heat.
I can put on four shirts and two jackets if I need to, but people have specifically asked me not to take my clothes off.

I would have to agree, Mema. We really only get about 4 weeks a year of absolute unbearable heat, and about the same of really crappy, icy winter -- spring and fall seem to last forever for us! We'll still be running around in shorts, tank tops and flip-flops in October!

I sure hope we are! Indian Summer ROCKS! Besides... I may need that long to get the new windows in the house. I'm kinda glad we didn't try any of that this weekend. It would have sucked to have to turn off the A/C while having big holes in the walls.

I've got no business being nekkid in public either, so I was being my own wet tank top contest this weekend. On the up side, Guz is easy on the eyes so his shirtlessness was just fine with me.
