RE: Fuzzy...

Happ missed twoo months with a forearm strain. He was getting knocked around in the minors a bit but it was about endurance and location more than the result. He came back from the DL and had a pretty good game. I don't know what Amaro's issue was. He refused to trade Happ last year at the deadline. So why do it this year? He struggled last year. But, let us remember this kid came out of AA to the show a few years ago. No AAA work for him (until his rehab this year). Kenderick came straight out of AA too. He is the one who should have been traded though. He has had a rough year.

So JR, what do you think about A Rod hitting his 600th homerun this afternoon? Do you classify him in the group of Bonds, Sosa and McGuire?

And I sure hope my Phillies can keep winning. We have Howard, Utley, Victorino all on the DL right now. Hope the bench players can continue playing well and some of the otherguys pick it up. If the three return and get hot with the other guys, look out. The Phils will starts to roll.

Depends how you mean.  If you mean do I think he needs an asterik I'd say no.  I think he's mostly clean.  I wouldn't be surprised if he tried the roids, but I think he's a legitimate talent and he's never had one of those crazy 60 homer years.

We won't know for sure until AFTER he plays.  I haven't seen photo's of Sosa, but McGuire & Bonds shrunk considerable only a year or two after they stopped playing.

I didn't think he belonged in that category either. I think his numbers and body have remained consistent throughout his career. He admitted to using some two years in the early 90s. But I think he has talent and has done it mostly on his own.

I'm hoping one day he takes the record away from that loser Bonds.

I always thought he would be the one to do it. If he hits 40 per year for 5 years yet, he will.

that should be doable. He's in great shape and still plenty young enough to get there.

He may go on a tear yet this year. He is still under 20 homeruns for the season.

Hey Fuzzinator,

I saw your Phils get shut down 1-0 this weekend, that sucked. But looks like they've played well otherwise.

The Brew Crew got even with Houston for sweeping us in their stadium by doing the same to them in ours. Such a wasted season. This club had the offense to beat ANYBODY. We've got seven legitimate 20+ homer guys in our lineup. Lack of pitching was our absolute undoing.

Do you think you'll catch Atlanta? That wild-card race is pretty muddled so I think you gotta win you division if you want to make the playoffs.

The Phils took 2 of three from the Muts. That 1-0 game on Saturday was a good pitching game. Poor Hamels. He has pitched so much better than his record shows this season. He has lost many a game by a 1-0, 2-1 score. The Phils remain 2 back of Atlanta. If Lidge hadn't blown that game against the Nationals on the 31st, they would be that much closer. Of course, that could be said about the handful of games the Phillies have blown this year. Losing 3 out of 4 to both the Cubs and Cardinals right after the All Star break didn't help.

I think the Phillies will go on an even bigger tear when the other half of the infiled returns. Utley will come back with a vengence and Howard will pick up right where he left off. It definitely is going to be a fight for the next 6 weeks. I agree with you, if the Phillies don't win the division this year, they may not make the playoffs.

Do you think the Brewers can make a run?

Fuzzy,  anything is possible...but not likely with our pitching.

No. If they hadn't lost 5 of 6 to the Reds and the Astro's last week they could have.

Now there's just no chance. Again, we'd have to win the division and it would probably take better than a 35-15 run to do it. I don't think we can go 40 - 10 the rest of the way. no.gif

Would be interesting if they could. Might shock the Reds and the Cards.

I'll tell you what guys, last night my Phillies looked like the 2008 champs. They were down to the Dodgers 9-2 going into the bottom of the 8th. They rallied with 4 runs in the 8th and 9th innings and subsequently won the game in the bottom of the 9th 10-9! clap.gif

Victorino was back from the DL last night (simply in a pinch hitting role). That leaves Howard and Utley to return from the DL. Howard may be back as early as Tuesday. Victorino will be going, Howard will get back into the swing of things and then Utley will explode when he returns. Six weeks to go on a big, big streak and try to sink the Braves.

Kind of a nice run for Bobby Cox in his last year though.

No wins for the Braves! They won 13 or 14 straight division crowns. they aren't allowed to win any more. no.gif

Plus, now that Chipper Jones is done for the year, I wonder if his teammates can keep it going.
