the king and I

as Thumpers thread was to nice to post on , I thought I'd start this one , One night many years ago in a place that catered to the " oldies " crowd , a conversation about the King  came up , I replied that I didn't think he was the king, one of the guys ( a well respected man )  said - let me guess, Little Richard , I just smiled .  ya gotta wonder how many records he could have sold in todays atmosphere , to do that well considering the times is nothing short of remarkable, heck I'll bet he never even got played on the air south of Pennsyvania.   whop bop a lo bop bop bam boo !  side note - Carl Perkins recorded  Blue Suede Shoes before Elvis , but then he broke his leg and couldn't tour for a while .  side note #2 - Elvis always had a fear of one man over taking him (so to speak ) drum roll please ... Roy  Orbison !

To think, for years and years things like "White Christmas" and "How Much Is That Little Doggie In the Window" was the airwave valium, and then one day WOMP BA BALUBOB WHOMP BAM BOOM TUTTI FRUITTI O RUTIE!!! GOT A GIRL NAMED DAISY..." The world never recovered from that! THANKFULLY!
