Good morning all. I am trying to find someone to care for Emily for awhile, so I can go back to the hospital. I also need to get my son some school clothes today too. Have a great day- for me!!
Good morning! Ack! I forgot, Ruby, I can't believe school starts next week... I guess I'll be one of the psycho parents at the stores getting supplies this weekend - why do i procrastinate....
I actually think I will give office supplies/equipment for Christmas presents. The company won't be here too long, so why not? They will probably end up getting rid of most of the stuff here anyway.
Who couldn't use a cubicle in their basement to remind you of a place you would rather not be?

Hey Rubes, I'll watch her. I'd just need a plane ticket... Really, I wish I were closer and could watch her for you.
My mom always waited until the night after the first day of school to get me any supplies. There were always the teachers that wanted you to have something different that we hadn't bought.
Mornin' all. I finally got all of the school supplies bought for my rugrats. My mom is a compulsive shopper and she bought my son almost all of his school clothes. Wooohooo! Gotta love that! My son goes to private school and I'm loving the uniform thing. So much easier to buy for than my daughter who is a fashion diva at 5 and has to have the latest and greatest fashions. She's in kindergarten this year and is so bummed because her two boyfriends are not going to be in her class this year. She has two of her EX-boyfriends in her class instead. What is up with that?
I'm usually a procrastinator on the school supplies thing, so the fact that I have all of mine bought and other people don't kinda makes me feel all grown up. *GULP* I'm a grown up. WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

I dont have to worry about the school supplies thing anymore either. But i did take my neice and nephew to the mall to get them supplies and clothes. spent 200.00 total.
My best friend from Germany called me up and told me that my goddaughter who is a charmer at 15 got her Belly button pierced. And her mother let her do it!!! needless to say mother called me a prude and that I needed to lighten up. Goddaughter told me I was square ( the mother quickly put that out with the stories of her and I back in the early days ( 92-93) Course now Katcha ( german) is wearing the little midriff shirts and the cute skirts with the fashionista look to them. Have to admit tho. with a build like hers ( all american athletic girl look) they look great on her.
Thank god the father ( my best friend Sean from the Army) has made it clear there are no boys at the house!
I used to hate the gradeschool uniform thing- but in hindsight, it was brilliant!! All the parents saved a TON of money! There would be these school uniform trade in things in the gym each year before school started- did all the swapping and clothes shopping there.

My husband has the hardest time getting my daughter ready for school in the morning because she will argue about what she's going to wear that day. You have to play mind games with her to get her to wear what you want and her daddy is not too good at them. "Oh, Molly, this will look SOOOOOOO cute on you!" At least with the uniforms, all he has to say is brown or blue bottoms, blue or white top? Not a lot of combo options there. It does save a lot of money, too. You only have to have 5 tops and 5 bottoms. I don't expect my daughter to wear the same 5 outfits to school every week. We haven't had too much luck with the trade in type of deal at our school. My son is only 10, but he went to the doctor and they said he is the height of a 14 1/2 year old. He's taller than me now. He wears a size 11 1/2 mens shoe and has a 33 inch waist. He's the tallest kid in school, with the exception of a couple of the 8th grade girls. Not a lot of room there to swap.

I did the uniform thing for 12 years so I know about it all too well. I think the kids today have so many better options than we did not too many years ago.

here's sort of a sexist scenario- for several decades, since the 1940's when my grade school opened, until about 1981 (4-5th grade I think I was in?) the girls had to wear uniforms and the boys didn't!!

In grade school we all had to wear the same ugly colors. In high school at least the boys had a little variety. The had grey pants, but the shirt was white or blue and a tie that went with. The girls still had the ugly colors and plaid skirts of all things.
