Good day, all. Apparently it is only Thursday though it feels to me like this week has been approximately 5 years long. But it is sunny and supposed to be 70* today, so I guess that is pretty ok.
So this morning as I'm driving into work, I'm pretty tired and not exactly what one would call "enthusiastic" about the day. In an effort to get myself cranked up I decide to blast some music to get me going... Joan Jett sounded like a good choice. I come rockin' into the parking garage, windows slightly down for the air flow, stereo blasting, and I'm singing along. As I get to the floor where I normally park, I notice that I seem to have attracted the attention of a rather tall guy who is walking toward the elevator / stairs area... yup... busted singing to the stereo. At this juncture, there is nothing else I can do so I roll with it... smile, waive, keep singing... he smiles and waives back... right then it clicks with me who that person is: Joreon Dorrestine... SR. VP of ESI... my boss to the 4th power. Thaaaaaat's right... I sang part of "Do Ya Wanna Touch" to that guy. Fortunately he seemed rather amused. Equally fortunately, he has no idea what my name is. I told the boss about it. He busted up laughing and said, "Well, at least it wasn't AC/DC Hell's Bells."
Yup... gonna be one of those days.

If I was a big company CEO and saw an employee coming in smiling, waving, singing, and appearing to be in a good mood, I'd think that was pretty cool. Much better than dragging in all grumpy and mad at the world about having to come to work.
I have a habit of cranking the tunes in the morning. Most mornings it is oldies or metal, but sometimes I even have my classical days. I remember getting busted by another VP on several occassions groovin' to some Godsmack. That guy was totally not amused. For a short time he was actually my VP and I forced him into giving me a promotion that I truly deserved but for some reason they didn't seem to want to give. And yes... he definitley knew my name and exactly what it was that I did for a living.

I love it, Mema! And you know, happiness and enthusiasm is contageous!
Well, this morning I had to take Isaac for his flu shot and needless to say, he was not happy about it. He's really getting too strong for me to hold down.

That would have been a shocker. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't know that song. He came here from Sweden to take this job. Originally from the Netherlands I believe.

I probably would have wrecked my truck. The good thing is that his office is upstairs from me so its not like I'm going to run into him any time soon. The bad news is that he might soon get to know my name... I think the boss is putting me and Little Man in for some form of recognition for the work we are doing on this network issue. He asked me yesterday to write up a summary of our involvement because our Director received multiple e-mails from various VP's about our outstanding level of support. If he does that, then we will be called up on stage at the next company all-hands. I might just die.

Oh... they will have plenty of microphones handy. Generally it is not a speaking opportunity for the recognition recipient though. You just have to stand there in front of the whole auditorium while someone reads the write up for whatever good thing you did.

Hopefully that comes with a small bonus check. If you are that type of award winner around here I think you get $300.
I've no idea on how that works with E. With my former employer the "monthly" awards were $100-$500 depending on what you did and its revenue impact. Annual awards were $1000.
