As a kid for some reason, I thought that an idol should be the same sex as you, because it's someone you're trying to be or wish you were like.  That's silly and completely untrue, I know.  But turns out when people ask me who my ido is, I still go for the females.  Over the years, I've had 3, which you will probably find completely predictable:
