It's Thriday!

Good day all.

It's Spring!  Okay, probably not for good, but it's 40° out right now.  The snow is patchy.  I hope it will be gone by the end of the day.

I also heard on the radio that we had a 4.2 earthquake, but it was north of us.  I didn't feel it, it didn't really get down to Bloomington.  The weird part is the people who felt it aren't on the same fault line that we had the earthquake from before.

Eve of New Year's Eve

Good day, all. I'm awake way early today for no really good reason. hmm.gif Guess I shall get cleaning on the house.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi ya.

Christmas is now just a memory here.

Tonight is the Husker bowl game. It doesn't start until 9:00pm.

No snow yet. They are not saying we are to get a great deal, but it's supposed to be cold and very windy causing blowing and drifting. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I've done some vacuuming and paid a couple bills. Not much fun for a vacation day.

Happily though, the BFF and his wife are back from California. Wife was called up to active duty (Navy Reserve) for a year to serve as a base commander. Her year is up so they moved her back home. I'm so glad I don't have to worry about them being out there in the flooding. smile.gif

I read about the quake MZ, cool stuff.

The Christmas stuff is tucked away now. But don't worry kids. Only 46 more weeks until we can put the tree back up! clap.gif

Well, this day took a decided turn. It was going so well... bedroom, bathroom, and closet all cleaned. Its about 62* outside, so I decided it would be a good day to get up in the attic and do some expansion foaming on the seam in the siding along the roof line. Went to Home Depot to get a ladder more appropriate to accessing my attic safely... and got a great deal. 13 foot telescoping "multi-ladder" regularly $98 on sale for $69. Since I got the deal on that I decided to buy me a 9 hole cubby thing that can be used as a shoe rack. Got home with all that, changed clothes and decided to set about getting the expansion foaming done.

The ladder is perfect for getting up in the attic. Got through the first can of expansion foam with no issues. I went over to get the second can thinking this is working out so much better than I thought. As I turned to go back over to the wall I was attaching the little straw thing to the can of foam when the F#$%-UP Fairy decided to visit me. My foot slipped right off the rafter and went through the ceiling into my bathroom below. angered.gif Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your view of it, I fell on my butt and landed on the rafter so at least only one foot went through the ceiling.

Sooo... now I've got a lovely hillbilly skylight in my bathroom that affords an exciting view of the duct work and insulation in my attic and I can no longer sit with comfort and joy. hmm.gif

Mema, that sounds like something I would do. Except then I would keep putting off fixing the hole in the ceiling until finally late one night months or more later, I'd get fed up with it and decide it has to be fixed right now.

We're currently on that cycle with putting plastic over the windows. I'll have plastic on them come April.

The thought was I could seal up most of the air leak in the attic while it is warm enough to be up there without a coat... expansion foam is messy business and if it gets on your clothes they are ruined... then since I know I couldn't get all of the leak fixed I was going to plastic over the attic access point thereby stopping the draft into my bedroom. no.gif Not much point in plastic-ing over the attic access at this juncture. I believe I have a greater issue.

I've still got to eventually plastic over the kitchen windows since I have yet to get those replaced. I have the new windows, but with the cold it is not a good time to have a gaping hole in the wall. hmm.gif

I texted Jeremy about this. He's having an excellent laugh at mom's expense. Says he will come up on Saturday and fix it for me. I love my kid.

At least it's a pretty easy fix. Just a bit of drywall and working with your hands above your head. In the grand scheme of things, cheap and quick. I'm glad you've got someone to do it for you.

I am very fortunate to have a kid with his skills. nod.gif At least I got my new shelf/cubbie thing put together without heinous bodily injury. laughing.gif

As a pleasant surprise, my daughter-in-law showed up a bit ago with the money she was supposed to give me. smile.gif We went in halves on a Christmas present for them... a bigger screen TV.

Think I'm going to run some stuff to the recycling center then come home and make some ice cream base. Somehow I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and put on my helmet before leaving the house.
