That big snow that everyone is going to get is supposed to come to us as freezing rain. After all the snow so far, I don't mind the freezing rain as much. Maybe I'm just apathetic at this point.
I'm just happy that we're not in the center of this one. We're supposed to get more snow, but the Eastern end if the state is preparing for a good pounding.
Well, I did it . . . I've made an appointment for the dentist tomorrow morning. I've not been there in a LONG time. I wasn't having any troubles and it just kept being a "later" thing. I've had some pain going on the last few days so it's time to get started going again.
I didn't take good care of my teeth when I was a kid. My dentist then liked to drill. I've got several teeth that he drilled most of the tooth out so there is not much left. He was cheap, so my mom liked going to him. I knew that was going to mean caps and expensive repairs some day so I put it off and put it off. Time to quit putting it off. Ugh.
Our little tease of spring was heavenly! But alas, it is winter and we will pay dearly for the couple days of 70's with about a week of teens and 20's, a couple inch accumulation of freezing rain topped with possibly 12 inches of snow. Hopefully we don't lose power...

Good day, all. The drizzle/rain/fog section of the storm is currently hovering over my area. I didn't have any problems getting to work, but I hear that north of the city it is really bad. Lots of cars off the road.
It looks like my area is on the back side of the storm, so we are forecast for 8-12+ inches of snow with near blizzard like conditions all day tomorrow. I already spoke with the boss and told him that after I leave today, I likely won't see him in person til Thursday. He is okay with that.
I'm pretty optomistic that I won't lose power. The lines for my neighborhood are all buried, so it is rare that we lose power. It would require something blowing out a transformer or taking down a high tension line for that to happen.
Good luck to us all with this here Stormageddon.

That's what's coming our way Mema. Blizzard like conditions TUE into WED. If you want to, you're free to hang onto it a little longer. We're willing to give it up if need be.
I'll be suffering it with you. It is not supposed to start snowing here until this evening. I think around 5PM. Right now there is only like a 20-30% chance of snow. 5PM it goes to 50%, then by 7PM it is 80%.
Think I'm going to try to make my escape from the office around 4:15 or 4:30. I'd like to get home early and move some more wood into the garage just in case. Kev was going to do that yesterday, but ended up falling down the stairs and hurt himself pretty good. He has had 2 open rotator cuff surgeries already on his left shoulder... hence sometimes I call him the one-armed bandit... but his right shoulder isn't in very good shape either. He somehow managed to get his right arm caught in the spindles as he went down the stairs so that did his shoulder no further favors. He had a Dr's appointment already scheduled for today so no trip to the ER last night... I'm still waiting to hear what the Dr. has to say. My guess is later this week he will be in for a MRI. Probably will end up having shoulder surgery in the next couple weeks. yay. So, as usual... I'm on my own for the snow removal and heavy lifting duties.

Morning all. For once this winter, we are due for a lot of snow. Unfortuately, it will be a combination of snow, freezing rain and ice. It is going to make for an ugly ride into the office tomorrow and Wednesday. I have had enough.
I think I may be grumpy. The boss ticked me off mighty early today. Now I want a nap. Or maybe a beverage. And I want the ugly weather to saty away this week. Can't we go one week this winter without snow or ice?

If I did it, I'd own it! The weird thing is he couldn't tell me how it happened either. He said he got to the top of the steps and was looking at Eddie who was laying up on the landing, then next thing he knew he was tumbling backwards down the steps. I think maybe those "hypno-cat" lessons have been paying off.

DOH! Just be careful up there. That is crazy snow! Honestly, for my area of the country more than 6 inches of snow in one shot is rare. It will be interesting to see how the snow plow / salt trunks do with all this.

I know! I was thinking about earlier this year when you said you only expect to get 5 or 6 inches of snow all year. So much for that huh?

Wow Mema, that report makes it sound even more serious than the weathermen did. I'm SO glad I have a short week this week. I'm off tonight AND Friday so it's a three day week for me. Good timing since things get bad down there after a snowfall.
FUZZY, I was thinking you were getting all our snow this year, but now it looks like we're gonna catch up.
The grocery store was ridiculous today, everybody stocking up like the end of the world is coming.
That is why I went grocery shopping on Saturday. Really, it wasn't any busier than a normal Saturday. I also wanted to get all of my chili making supplies for Superbowl weekend before everyone else gets that idea.
So out of curiosity, I looked at the NOAA warning for Mz's area. Another non-excitable person wrote that one. It is like, "(yawn) an inch of ice. Maybe. Too soon to tell."
Having troubles getting to the notices for Fuzzy and Ghost.

Yeah, it's funny how we all get weather here in the office. The one my boss listens to always overestimates and overreacts. I always get mine from NOAA, which is always like, "Yeah, I don't know, whatever."
I finally got to one for the Philly area, it seemed pretty understated. Whomever it is who writes for my local office needs some valium or something. It is just a shade away from "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!" Yes, it is going to be a bad storm. No, I don't think it is being brought in by the four horses of the Apocalypse.

I already know I won't be getting out of my driveway (no 4wd on my car); if Mr. DS gets out of our driveway(has 4wd), he still has to make it up the hill on our road before he gets to the county road. Then because our county is run by a bunch of cheapskates, the county roads won't be salt&sanded anyhow...
We will all be staying home -- REDRUM... REDRUM!

I have that level of concern too, DS. Kev is supposed to be going to a small town about 200 miles south of us tomorrow, but I seriously doubt he will go given the weather and his injury. On the up side, he just got a shiney new bottle of Tylenol-3's and I made a stop at the liquor store yesterday. One or the other of us WILL be unconscious before the day is out. I deeply suspect it will not be me.

The weather is getting super old around here. They are expecting this to make a very messy morning rush hour both Tuesday and Wednesday. Knowing that it could keep changing I didn't even look at the news last night at 11.

We just got upgraded to blizzard conditions starting at 6AM tomorrow. Fundamentally the only difference in the forecast is now sustained wind speeds. Wind chill index for here is something like -10 to -20 for the next couple days.

We just heard the same thing, Mema. "Blizzard" puts a whole new spin on things. Last blizzard we lost power for, I think just a day, but some people in Tulsa were without power for a couple weeks. I imagine my heat will run all day and all night, sucking down that high dollar propane we just filled

I'm imagining that the space heaters will be running at my house and probably the fireplace will be going too. That reminds me... I need to move some wood into the garage when I get home.
Really, I still don't think we will lose power. I sure hope we don't. Haven't gotten around to investing in a back up generator yet.

If we get the ice and wind that they say we'll get, I think a wind sailing board will be the best way to get around. At least it'll be safer than wheels.
