LOL! DS, I had a Friday thread all typed out but hadn't clicked Post yet. The subject line of my thread was EXACTLY the same as the one you chose (well, I might've had an extra A, but same difference).
Good day all.
I've been thinking of retreating to B&N and spending Friday night working on Sweet Addiction. I've organized a writers group with our NaNoWriMo participants, and we meet every other Tuesday, but it's been too popular. I like the meetings, we have a lot of fun and share a lot of ideas, but I need some alone time to just write and concentrate.
I definitely am happy that Friday has finally arrived. It been a long, cranky kind of week. At least I have been able to decide that I don't have to come in here tomorrow. That is always a plus. I do, however, need to get started on personal tax returns. I plan on getting three, if not four drafted tomorrow. Those will be the shorter, more simple returns. I also have to swing by and pick up some paperwork so I can do another. I do have all the stuff for two other returns. Man, it turns out I have a lot of work to do.
Anyway, happy Friday!

This weekend and into next week is about the boy's room.
Right now, his room is a white ceiling with very blue walls. You know the blue painter's tape? If we put that blue tape on the walls, it blends in perfectly . . . that's how blue it is. The first thing after all the taping and prep work will be to go over all the blue with Kilz to help cover it.
Next, will be a white ceiling again, but we'll bring the white down the walls about 18" or so. Next, will be red on all the walls up to the white. Finally, there will be about a 4" stripe of black between the white and red. In case you didn't pick up on it, we've got a Husker theme going.
Right now, his room is a mish-mash of furniture. He's using the top portion of our old entertainment center for shelving, a small child's table/chairs, a couple plastic drawer units, and a cabinet that I built a long time ago. That is ALL going out.
I ordered three, black, wire shelving units from Amazon that should be here next week. They are 6' tall, 3' wide, and 14" deep, and have 5 shelves each. Those three units will cover one whole wall. He should have plenty of shelving now. He can display all his LEGO kits and have all his stuff easily accessible. Mrs Web wasn't crazy about this idea, but with the Husker theme, I think the black wire shelves will look kind of "locker roomish" and be fine for a boy. PLUS, when he's ready to take off, if he doesn't want the shelves. we can use them some where else like the basement or garage.
He will also be moving up from the twin bed to a full size. We already have a frame and headboard, we just need a box springs and mattress for that. And finally, we'll need to get him a chest of drawers. His twin bed has drawers under it but with that bed going away, he'll need something else for clothes drawers.
It's going to be a lotta work over the next few days, but he's super excited and can't wait to get going. Part of it is that we told him we'd move his twin bed out to the living room and he'll be sleeping out there while we do this . . . he thinks that alone is going to be super-cool.
Why does this project seem to have the feel of a Home Depot commercial? Weren't they the ones who had team colors and commercials related to it a few years ago?

I'm going to free myself by 4pm. Mz - do you think you'll ever go back to preparing taxes?
I've thought about that a lot, and I probably won't. I'm not an accountant, and I don't have that mindset. Plus, preparing taxes for the general public has a different level of stress with it that I don't want to deal with. People try to cheat the IRS to get more money than they are entitled to, and I don't want to be in the middle of that.
Regulations have changed too. Now you need to have a PTIN for preparing returns and anything you sign off. I think they are still trying to change the education requirements too. I only prepare a handful of returns and none of them are complicated. It is a little extra cash for me to try and hide in my savings account at a local bank. I take my change to that bank too. Since I belong to a credit union near where I grew up (an hour away), I don't get to it often. I joined a local credit union so I'd have a place to take checks, rebates and change. It is a good place to try to stash some cash. There isn't much there, but if I need it, I can get to it. I pulled cash out of there to pay for my sod in the fall and used some for Christmas. It is time to replenish it.

And I agree with a lot of people trying to take more than they should. I don't know if I could sit down and deal with the public ana prepare returns. I don't have that chance since I am too busy with my regular job at this time of year. I wouldn't mind the second income though.

I used to have a PTIN, but I'm not sure if it's still valid. And Jackson Hewitt makes you take a test every year, and our local office is even more strict than their corporate, so a test doesn't bother me. But again, I don't really care, because I don't intend to do it again. I'm not even doing any family or friends' returns this year, it's not worth it.
Good day, all. YAY for finally Friday! This week has been way too busy. I need to get doing some productive stuff today, but am having issues getting motivated to do so. Ah well... much to do before this day is done.
Web... I envy your motivation. I know how much stuff I have to do on my house yet and it just about makes me weep when I think about it.
Mz & Fuzzy... I don't even want to do my own taxes. Don't think I would ever want to touch someone elses.
Everybody... have a great day.

I wouldn't really say it's "my" motivation. Seeing the boy so excited about it helps, but most of my motivation on this kind of stuff comes in the form of "Mrs Web".

Web - in case no one told you, that is not exactly motivation.
