Another Hump Day

Yup, it's Wednesday again.

We have another baseball game tonight at a town 40 miles away. We only have one other out of town game. Go Team #3! Whoop!

Good day all.

Go team!

It's going to be the hottest day so far this year. I'm part of a walking group that started last fall that just got going again. It's sponsored by a local shoe store, and we walk along a nice paved walking trail that was made from where the railroad used to run through downtown. We walk Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings, but every other Tuesday I have Writing Group, so I need to make up last night's walk. And this year, for every walk you do, they give you $1 off at the store. The best time for me to make up the walk is tonight, and I walked to work today. The trail is right in the middle of my walk to work, so I'm going to start walking home, then change direction, walk up to the store, then walk back down the trail and finish the path from work to home. Then I'll go home and either take a cool shower or jump in the pool, because I expect to be roasting.

GO TEAM!

Good morning, everyone. It's going to be a really long day in the office; I don't have a whole lot of work in my basket (subject to change), and I don't have any "government" projects to work on.

Morning all. I'm currently waiting for someone to stop hogging the printer. In the meantime it's going to be a hot one here too. I am awaiting the end of the work day. I will be attending a concert tonight that starts at 7:30. I don't usually plan such events during the work week, but I am taking a friend to the concert and he was very excited about it. I think I've decided to take tomorrow off. I may have a case of anal glacoma. Plus I'm sure that I won't get home until at least midnight as there is an opening act and it will be about an hour ride home. I'm going to justify it by complaining how on two days during tax season when I should have been home in my bed recovering, I was indeed at the office. Just try and stop me. Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter than today.

Work on.

I know I just had one. And it really wouldn't be a big deal to go to bed late and get up to go to work. It's been done before.

Maybe tomorrow when I do get my butt out of bed I'll go for a bike ride along the trail. Although, since it is going to be so dangerously hot, it would have to be earlier in the morning. But it'll make me feel good.

Who are you going to see  . . . someone funky?

Not funky tonight. We are going to see Levon Helm. He has been out on his own for sometime. He has his own recording studio in NY. He is a former member of The Band. He does not sound the same as many, many years ago because he has beaten throat cancer, but it still should be a good time.

Levon Helm is an American rock multi-instrumentalist and actor who achieved fame as the drummer and frequent lead and backing vocalist for The Band. Helm is known for his deeply soulful, country-accented voice, and creative drumming style highlighted on many of The Band's recordings, such as "The Weight", "Up on Cripple Creek", "Ophelia" and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down". His 2007 comeback album Dirt Farmer earned the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album in February 2008, and in November of that year, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him #91 in the list of The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. In 2010, Electric Dirt, his 2009 follow-up to Dirt Farmer, won the first ever Grammy Award for Best Americana Album, an inaugural category in 2010.

My next funky-like concert will be Steely Dan in early September.

For those to our Distant East, it's only 70 degrees here today. The cooler temps are coming.

I have to make sure I baby my front lawn. It gets sun all day long. We haven't had any rain in a few weeks now. That is not what my lawn needs. I have been watering it. In order to maintain the health of the lawn, they say it should have an inch of water per week. And it needs a deep watering so the roots don't grow shallow making it more suscepitble to burnout. I did it Saturday night and, in anticipation of today's heat, last night. I should do it again tonight to ward off tomorrow's heat but I won't be home. And tomorrow night is darts so I won't be home until 10pm. So that means I'd have to stay up later. I need at least 2 hours to water. Since I'm not going to work tomorrow, maybe I will water when I get home tonight. I know I'll be up for at least an hour after I get home. And because I watered last night, maybe I won't leave the water on as long. We have a chance of t storms from Thursday night through Sunday night. But I can't rely on those. I did for one last week and it didn't happen. That could be a turning point for my lawn. We'll see.
