I've found another pet peeve of mine, that makes me very defensive when people do it: People who ask why you made a mistake.
I've made a mistake, I have no problem correcting it. If I knew why I made it in the first place, I wouldn't have made it! It's not like I did it on purpose! And I'm not talking about anything real important here, I made a slight typo on a website that I easily fixed in 5 seconds. It's not any of their business why I made the mistake, as long as I fixed it, which I did!
Oh I understand totally. You cannot make a mistake if you are not working!! I work with someone that never never never makes a mistake. It is always someone else's mistake! That is my pet peeve. We all make mistakes- that is why we are human!
Any time anyone asks me why I made a mistake, I always want to tell them, "Because I have a personal vendetta against you." What type of answer are they expecting?
When your boss keeps asking if something is done yet. Don't you think I will let you know when I finish it? Don't blame me that this stuff is a week late. Try blaming the stupid new company that made changes to the numbers six times, causing. And now that I do not know what is going on, stop telling me to call the person when I have no idea what questions I need to ask.

I'm there with you on that on Fuzzy. Especially when someone keeps asking if you're done yet when it's not due yet. And of course, in your case, when you're not given the tools to complete the project, so of course it's not done.
Ruby - the company merged with a CA company. The announcement was made mid-June. The vote was passed by both sets of shareholders (boo!) and it was finalized on 9/16. Since we are not the surviving company, most of here in PA will be eliminated. I am done here about the third week in April. I may not survive that long. The new people are just killing our processes and holding us up here. I know that a transition is tough, but we are a small workforce here. It seems for every one of us, the new company has three or four people that do our job. They seem to have a hard time understanding 'I can not do that right now, X has to be completed now'. They are impatient, a pain and are asking a lot that makes it very difficult to run through my day. Why don't they get that I am not able to drop everything I am doing just to fulfill their request, which takes two days to do?
Did I mention ?

I know Mz feels that way sometimes with her campaigns too. They're a charity, they have like 8 people in the office, and people don't understand why she won't write their letters for them.
Molly - I knew someone would understand. Mz is always under so much pressure too.
Ruby - No, they won't have any of us. We found that out two weeks ago. They let us know our release dates and what our severance is. I have to do my best to make it until the end. That will entitle me to my retention bonus which will be a nice sum to put away.

Sometimes, when i'm lonely... i crawl into a laundry basket and tickle my ears. But, Some times I don't...
When I was still working in Lincoln at a cabinet shop, I had reglued a set of chairs and for some reason, it took just a little longer than usual. I'd been doing this kind of stuff there for six years.
The Supreme Commander came out to the shop to tell me that I took too long on that job. He went on to help me out and explain that every time we do something we can get a little faster than the time before.
So I told him . . . ok, it takes me about an hour to take apart, clean the joints, and reglue a chair. That's 60 minutes. So, if I can shave one minute off every chair for the next 60 chairs, at that point, people won't even have to bring them in . . . we can just send them the bill and their chairs will be fixed!
He didn't like it, but got it.
That place always ran best when he would stay in the office and just let us do the work.
