Looks like it's Tuesday

I guess it's Tuesday. Hmm.

Chances of some rain today and an expected high in the UPPER 70'S. The break from the heat will be very welcomed.

But enough about me . . . what's up with you?

Upper 70s?!?! Wow. Well be at least 95* today. They say the heat index will be about 102*. We still could use rain. With the heat and humidity maybe we'll get a shower late this afternoon. We need more of a drenching though. I think there is cooler air coming and then we will have highs in the mid 80s, up to 90* into next week.

I'm going to go back to doing my thing. If anyone should need me, you know how to find me.

Good day all.

We've got a heat advisory again today too. I don't see any upper 70's coming up soon for us. I'm jealous.

We probably won't see 70's 'til October hmm  I think I heard 103 for today.

I was looking at the school calendar / time schedule -- Looks like the year will begin on a Monday and not a Friday (that is good), and for elementary level, the morning bell doesn't ring 'til 9:30 on Mondays and 9:00 the rest of the week and the evening bell rings at 4:00.  I wonder whose bright idea that was disbelief

I want ice cream...

What, different times on Mondays? Wow, that's gonna cause a bunch of confusion.

And those are tough times too. What about all those parents that need to be to work by 9? I think we used to do the 8:30 to 3:30 thing in grade school.

There's also been a lot of studies lately about the best start times for kids for them to perform their best. The little kids, elementary, were better starting off early, but the high school kids were better with a later, 9-9:30 start time. In our school district, they made the start times for the two levels different so they could use the same buses, so I've always assumed that other districts do the same thing.

Ours do that too.

By chance I ran into Isaac's K teacher at the grocery store and she briefed me on the revised schedule, so I checked out the district website and sure enough, it's true. All schools have revised schedules. The later start on Mondays is to give the teachers that 1/2 hour each week to meet and plan their week. Yes, I imagine there are going to be a bunch of upset parents. The elementary schools have a "latchkey" program before and after school, but it's not free and some families don't have the means to pay for it; even less for a private daycare facility that transports them to school. I have to be to work by 8 so Isaac attends the before/after school program, but with his "lunar phases", I really don't like getting him to school too early, so he can have limited contact with anyone that irritates him.

I agree that the older kids are more productive getting their day started later and the younger kids are if they start earlier.

I sure wish I would have had that information about high schoolers bing more productive when starting later.

4 out of 5 days a week I would miss most of first period and have a detention slip waiting. Instead of being penalized I could have been hailed as a visionary!

Then again, I was never very productive the rest of the day.
