I just got some semi-good news in. The doctor has identified two possible additional forms of chemo to try to help my Dad.
I don't understand a lot of the mumbo jumbo, but what it amounts to is that this is the strongest chemo yet. After 16 months of the current treatments my Dad has not lost his hair and has had minimal side effects other than some occassional illness. With the new treatment the doctor warns us that he will lose his hair and he will have some bad days where he can't keep food down and will be sick.
I know this has been very mixed news for my Dad, who has to live through this, but for the rest of us AND him it's a ray of hope that we might still be able to beat this.
My Dad's also a little upset because they're going to put a port in him later in the week. He has had to get different chemo and liquid drips several times a week for so long, it's getting hard for them to keep putting the needles in him, so they're going to put a semi-permanent one in. I know he didn't want this, but again, it will help him in the future with less bruising and such.
Thank you all for your prayers! I'll keep you updated.
Yeah, I am glad they have not given up yet. You once again got a miracle Riggs, keep that in mind!
PM me anytime, Pam is going through all this right now. She loves the port- less sticking for all her lab work. Chemo is going as best as can be expected and they have come a long way in helping with the side effects! She lost her hair last week and she is ok for now with that!
I hope the best for you and your Dad Riggs! My Grandma actually preffered to wear a turbin when she lost her hair, she thought it would stir up some kind of new style.

That's not much of a stretch for me Web, twice in the last two years I've had my hair cut to a length of about 1/4'th of an inch. The ol' buzz cut!
I can understand how losing your hair could be traumatic. In my Dad's case my worry is that since he's been diagnosed we really so no outward signs of his illness. If he loses his hair he will have a reminder every time he looks in the mirror. I don't know if or how that will affect his psyche.
Let me know how that goes over Riggs, Pam just took a class on turban making! She can make one out of almost any article of clothing!!
SHe also has ran the gammit with wigs- one in every color. Might spark her love life- just another suggestion. Maybe your mom would like a blond or long haired brunette!!??
At least the Eagles are winning. 4-2 with a win over the Chargers yesterday isn't bad. It isn't good, but it isn't as bad as it could be. The division practically has this record. Now, if only our quarterback weren't hurt.
