GO BUCKS GO!!!! SIXERS GET BEAT!!!!

Awwwwwww RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!

We finally found a team to beat Fuzzy with!

The Bucks had a big comback tonight, with a 3 pointer to tie it up in regulation with under two seconds left.

They went on to dominate the overtime to win 117 - 108

All this AND Allan Iverson had to play dress up for the press conference! SCHWEEET!

The dressing up, is that a new rule about dress code I heard?

Yeah, they gotta dress nice now, no more hip-hop outfits, no more looking like street thugs.

Rumour had it he was gonna show up wearing a Herb Tarlic suit (from WKRP) or a Rodney Dangerfield suit (like in Caddyshack).

Is there a legit point to that rule?? You can't take "that" out of them, no matter how they dress!

You know Ruby, I was torn, but beleive it or not CHARLES BARKLEY convinced me it's the right thing to do!

He was talking about how the NBA has every right to tell it's employees how they should dress when representing the team (remember, this is NOT on their time, it's basically when they're on the clock).

But the bigger point he felt was important is that these guys are role models to kids, and as he put it, when a black kid needs to go get a job he's not going to get it if he's dressing up hip-hop style. He felt it sent a better message to the black youth of America, which he feels are not given the same job opportunities as white kids, that when you are a professional you should dress like it. The uniform on the court, the collared shirt & tie when you're off of it but still representing your company.

I can understand both sides, but there's no reason the NBA shouldn't be allowed to enforce a dress code like any other business can.

The only thing I really dislike about it is that the NBA has embraced hip hop for a decade, it's the music they play at the games, it's in most commercial endorsements, it's in the video games. So it's a bit hypocritical now to try and remove it from the sidelines.

Yeah!

Way to open the season for those Sixers!!!! WOO HOOO!

Man, I never realized it before, but if The Phillies could sign Barry Bonds I could really dislike ALL THREE MAJOR SPORTS TEAMS they have!

I don't like the Eagles bcuz of the mouth known as Terrel Owens,

I don't like the Sixers bcuz of the mouth known as Allen Iverson,

But I like the Phillies so far, they seem like a cool bunch. Hmmm. Time for them to make some trades I guess.

That is agood point. But is it really the athletes that influence the "bad" kids or is it the musicians?? When I was little, most jocks knew better in all areas of their life right from wrong and determination and hard work- balance school and sports. Yet it was the kids who listened to heavy metal and had no outside interests that got in trouble and needed a role model. Today, when these kids turn to music, it is the rapper's rules that they follow, not the NBA or NFL's. For the most part!

I think that's very true Ruby.

But it's hard to tell these days. I mean, the cross-over between the NBA, Music, Advertising, and Video Games is incredible.

They almost blend into one product it seems.

The thing with me though is that this is such a silly little issue, I can't beleive it's become such a big deal. I mean come on, just put the nice shirt on, give your press conference, and then go and wear whatever you want.

If it's really that hard on you I'm sure the multi-million dollar contract you signed to play the sport you love will help ease your pain.

Meanwhile, the rest of us have REAL problems in our lives.

I agree- I can see it now. They will be asking for more money to fund their new "uniforms!"

lol,

Actually, I think it was Stephen Jackson that basically said that! He said "If the NBA wants us to buy nice clothes they should provide us with a stipend"

This is a guy making millions every year!

The Bucks could surprise a few people but I think they need a couple more years to gel. The power in the NBA is slowly turning to the East. I think San Antonio is still the team to beat but Indiana, Miami or Detroit could give them a run in the finals.
Of course I'm telling you the blue and gold of our beloved Indiana Pacers will be the team to beat in the east. Everything goes through Indy!!!! Tonight they open with Orlando and tomorrow they take on Miami. That one is on TNT if you care to jump on that Pacer bandwagon. Get on early cause it's gonna get as crowded as the Colts bandwagon.

First of all, I do not care for the NBA. I ocassionally skip by it. I do not watch more than two minutes. If I watch basketball, it is college ball.

Second, the Sixers blew the lead just like any other Philly team. When I saw it they were up by 7 points with around two minutes to play. I figured they were good to go.

Three, I see you jumped away from the stinky Packers just to root for a team that got lucky in the season opener. Just remember, there are plenty of games remaining.

Fourth, the Sixers can quickly go to .500. I believe they play again tonight.

Fifth, we have four major sports teams here. At least we have a hockey team. Let's Go Flyers!

Sixth, bring it!

Fuzz,

I admit it, I'm grasping at straws here, I want DESPERATELY to have a team to crow about. For now it's the Bucks because this should be a fun year for them.

I haven't liked basketball since I was a kid, but good play can change that. Last nights game was really exciting.

THE BEST PART (and you'll find this with pretty much any of our local teams) is that it's a group of GOOD guys that are easy to root for. No egos that seem to infiltrate so many other teams (cough, cough, owens, cough, cough).

I know good guys finish last, but it's easy to root for them.
