Worst experience at a concert

I just heard Ray's- spilled beer!

I cannot think offhand any real bad experiences. At the Kiss concert I had an idiot tell my hubby and me how mean we were to drag our kids to the Kiss concert and paint their faces. I unpolitely told him- they dragged us and wanted their faces painted. But there is a jerk in every crowd!

On the whole, all the concerts I've seen have been pretty good. We do always seem to be sat by the pot smokers and end up getting a contact high, though. Probably my worst experience was with the ticket buying and their stupid lotteries (I've told that story before), but not at the actual concert.

I took a date to an Eddie Money concert back in the '80s.  It was a venue with lawn seats (Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT, site of Milli Vanilli's infamous tape skipping incident).  It was raining and my date complained that she wasn't going to stay on the lawn in the rain.  She ended up convincing me to buy tickets for the seated area (on top of what I spent for the lawn seats).  Needless to say, I liked this girl A LOT.  They were 3rd row seats, which was cool, but when we got in she proceeded to flirt with the band during the entire show.  She was pretty and they were responding.  Luckily she didn't lift up her shirt or go backstage or anything that salacious, although she probably could have if she tried her luck, but it still wasn't my idea of a good time.

I've got another one, although this technically may not qualify because I never actually got to the concert, which is why it was a lousy experience.  Back in high school I went with a couple friends to see Cheap Trick at a small club in New Haven, CT.  These idiots thought it would be the same price as a regular bar cover charge so they brought something like $5 a piece to get into the show.  Now, I knew even Cheap Trick at their lowest wasn't going to sell $5 tickets, even in the '80s.  I think the tickets were actually about $15.  We didn't have enough to scrape together to get everyone in so we missed the show and drove around all night.  Ah, fond high school memories!

Marky, i think everyone has been there...trying to impress a date we really like. In hindsight, it makes me chuckle at some of the hoops I was willing to jump through then

If she really liked me, I wouldnt have had to jump through all those hoops.

Did the girl really like you too?

Marky- that brings back a recent memory. I grew up in IL and saw Cheap Trick a lot. But about a year ago I went to see them here locally. They sucked! He could not carry a tune. His voice is sooo bad, they refused to sing The Flame. You actually made out ok!

Yeah, we actually dated for a while but she was REALLY high maintenance, which is probably pretty evident from my story.  As I typed it I was thinking "man, I was willing to take a lot of grief to be with her, wasn't I?"  Believe me, I took much worse.  I'm not the same person now.

Was going to see The Church in '88 and they cancelled, but we didn't know about it until we got there.

INXS cancelled a show here in town too that we didn't know about until we got there too -that sucked, and Michael Hutchensce was dead like 2 months later.

I'm sorry to hear that.  I did see them after that a couple of times.  I think they're hit or miss.  The first time I saw them in a small club about 6 or 7 years ago and they weren't too good.  I went to see them again a couple years ago at an outdoor gig on a double bill and they were GREAT.  I mean, really good.

I've never had a show cancelled out from under me...thank God.

The Michael Hutchence thing, what can you say about that?  Opportunity forever lost.  What a huge talent he was.
