Thoughts?

The first song ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT was ok in my opinion, but I don't think Shaggy was necessary, he really added nothing to the song.

Does anyone actually like Shaggy?? It seems like he pops in all these various songs, gets his 2 cents worth (actual value), spoils the songs with his presence, and leaves. I don't like his voice. He should be fired.

JD, his voice is his gimmick.

They throw him on a song almost as a novelty I think.

I like him on a few things, I thought THAT GIRL was a great song, but not so fond of his "contribution" on the Lauper CD.

I still am not able to burn a copy of the new version of GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN because of that stupid copy protection, but I'll get it figured out by tomorrow.

Luckily it's the weakest song on the disc (again, in MY opinion)

I am glad that I am not the only one that found Shaggy did not belong on the song. I sure don't understand it and it was not needed.

Now this one I like (MONEY CHANGES EVERYTHING).

It was never one of my favorites back in the 80's, but I've seen her perform it in concert, and in multiple styles, and it's really grown on me.

I love Cyndi, always have.   But I refuse to buy the new cd because it's copy-protected.   It's such BS to do this in an era where everyone and their mother listens to music on an iPod.

Man this "I'll be your River" song is good too!! wow way to go Cyndi Lauper! thank you for not being that annoying squeeky little twit you were in the 80's!!!!


I have a friend at work who went to go see Cyndi here in town a few months ago. This friend had no idea that it would not be a "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" revisited show. She did a lot of this material, I am told. Friend was stunned at the beauty of the performance!

Right, that was the Potowatami show.

She did two nights for her AT LAST tour. She did a lot of standards (including Unchained Melody & At Last) and a few of her classics reworked as well.

She's getting better with age.

I like the version of Time After Time here too- trying to add beauty via acoustic music to what was once over-produced and synthesized. Has her voice not grown absolutely beautiful??

I think her voice has definately gotten better.

She's a singer now, not so much a screamer like in the past.

She has help from Sarah McLachlan on Time After Time though.

I personally think Cyndi's been a victim of bad timing.   She released two of her best albums (Hat Full Of Stars and Sisters Of Avalon) at a time where people wanted nothing to do with anyone whose peak was in the 1980's except for Madonna and Janet Jackson, and when people finally came around to opening their ears back up to her, she started doing things such as standards and acoustic covers....   too bad she's not still doing albums like Sisters and Stars now that people are interested in her again

Those girls laughing in the background sound like they were lifted from the Macarena

I've never liked ANY of the reworkings she's done of GIRLS. The original was fine (for it's time anyway), but she's tried Reggae, she's slowed it down, now she's done this. They all stink.
