Those girls laughing in the background sound like they were lifted from the Macarena I've never liked ANY of the reworkings she's done of GIRLS. The original was fine (for it's time anyway), but she's tried Reggae, she's slowed it down, now she's done this. They all stink.

I feel the same way, none of the reworkings recaptured the magic the original had.   Girls is a cheesy little song, but the original version is still fun after all these years.

Right Anf,

I still sing along to the original when it comes on (and hope no ones watching).

Other than that cut though, I think this is the best received New Music Weekend CD that we've done.

Next Up. Madonna! WOO HOO!

her  'wardrobe ' left a lot to be desired , looked like something I'd use to check the oil in my car with.  There was also this urge to squirt lighter fluid on her and drop a match.

I also wanted to hit Lou with a baseball bat, about 27 times, once for every stupid rubber band on /in his head.

What about the design shaved into one side of her head Dave?

That had to ruffle yer feathers a bit too didn't it? I know that drove JD nuts.

You and I probably have different expectations for the Madonna CD. I'll just be happy if it goes back to her 80's sound. I imagine you'll only be happy if she lost her voice and the album consists of 60 minutes of silence.

Am I right?

lemme guess, you're our resident SteveM, right?  lol (SteveM is a guy who posts on another board and still hates Madonna and refuses to give her latter music a try because he hated her Like A Virgin era stuff, he hates Madonna so much that he thinks she is worse than Britney or J. Lo or any of the American Idols)

I wouldn't say she totally went back to her 80's sound, but regardless, this is easily the most FUN album she has recorded since True Blue.    The pretention from the last three albums is gladly missing here.   I have been listening to this a lot since I bought it,  without a doubt it is the Madonna album that a lot of us have been waiting from her for years.   I have been talking to several people who lost interest in her years back (one hasn't liked anything since "Erotica") and are loving this,  she definately went back to her club roots here and IMO anyone who liked the first album from '83 should be able to warm to this quickly too.

I still think Like A Prayer is her best piece of work,  but Confessions is definately up there with her best records.
