WB is cancelling "7'th Heaven" after this season. Ten years on the air make it the longest running family hour in TV history. It's also the biggest hit the WB has ever had. 19 of the networks top 20 all time watched shows were episodes of "7'th Heaven".
Also, FOX has decided NOT to get the full season of "Arrested Development" this year, which probably means the death of it.
For those of you that haven't watched this critically acclaimed show, it is quite possibly the funniest, quirkiest half hour comedy on television right now. I'm really sad to see it go after only three seasons.
I am shocked that 7th Heaven has always been the WB's biggest hit... it's never seemed to inspire a rabid "Trekkie"ish fanbase the way that shows like Buffy, Angel, Smallville and Charmed have had on the network. Supernatural seems to be the new big cult show for WB.
You're right. All four of the shows you mentioned would SEEM to have more going for them. Expecially Buffy or Charmed. Now one of them can probably take over the lead at the network though.
Buffy and Angel have ended their runs, and this is likely Charmed's final season. Gilmore Girls has knocked 7th Heaven to second place for the network this season, which is a likely reason why WB decided to end it now, 9 years at #1 is no mean feat. Supernatural (an X-Filesy style series about two brothers who fight demons and myths) is the #4 show on the WB in it's freshman season and could likely be the #1 series on WB in 2 or 3 years considering Smallville (which is the #3 WB series) and Gilmore Girls have been around quite some time now and may be about to wrap up then.
with Arrested Development, I can't say I'd be too surprised if FX picks up the series and airs it in first run. FX has been trying to find a 30 minute hit, they have plenty of hour long shows that get ratings. AD averages 4-5 million viewers a week, which is bad for Fox, but would definately be a smash hit for FX.
I don't have cable, and I live just fine without it. You'll be fine, especially if you can get local channels. With Netflix and the internet, I don't feel like I need it anyway!
The first being that I'm trying to stay focused on relaunching my business next spring. I want to get back to full self-employment before summer of next year. That means I need to be working CONSTANTLY in the mean time preparing things.
The second is that it's a good cash saver, I'll need as much cash saved as I can to get things back off the ground.
This working for someone else (cover your ears little E)...... SUCKS!
