Back to the Monday

Good day all.

I'm normal again.

Let me rephrase that.  I'm back to my old self.  Now it's at the point where I have to remember to finish the antibiotics.

It was a beautiful day yesterday, and is supposed to be beautiful again today.  Sunny and 52. Hmm, maybe I am feeling a little ill, the type that can only be cured with sunshine and fresh air...

I actually did have something like that once.  This really weird rash that mainly affects women in their late teens or early twenties, thought to be brought on by stress, but they don't really know what causes it.  The suggest treatment was UV therapy.

Glad you're feeling better, Mz.

I "Like" US Cellular on FaceBook and this morning they asked "When was the first time you used the Internet?"

That got me thinking back. Although it wasn't the "internet" I had an online service called "Q-Link" back about 1987. At that time, it was a Commodore only service and I accessed it with my Commodore 64. I used a 300 baud modem. I remember that when downloading a text file at 300 baud, it would download about the same speed as you could read it. Later, I remember thinking I was on top of the world when I 4x'd the speed with a 1,200 baud (1.2k) modem. Eventually, "Q-Link" renamed their service to "America Online" and opened it up to other types of computer systems. The rest, is history.

Now, a company bought the rights to use the Commodore name and they are building a modern day PC into the old Commodore 64 style case. If I had $1,500 I just didn't know what to do with, I'd get one of those just for the cool factor. I've just not found $1,500 that I didn't know what to do with.

Ah, the memories . . .

Morning all. I hate when you can't find the file that you were working on Friday afternoon. I'm beginning to wonder if I was even here doing it or if it was all a dream. I'm a little angry about it. It was a spreadsheet with 147 tabs. I was through at least 115, if not more, all labeled, formatted and ready to go. I can't help but wonder if it was stuck in a temp directory. I say was, because my cookies and such get cleared every night. I did a search for it but have come up empty. While I do remember periodically saving my work, I don't remember saving the original file to the network or even naming it. What a lovely way to start the work week. It certainly doesn't help my headache.

Aw man Fuzzy, that sucks. I frequently have dreams where I've worked on something, then I get to work to realize I just dreamed it all.

Hm, the first time I used the internet... The first time that I can remember is a New Year's Eve that I spent at my dad's. I would guess it was 1993-1994. He was using Webcrawler search engine that had a spider logo on a black background. He had started downloading a pinball game that night that didn't finish up until the next morning.

Now that I think about it, there was a lot of white text on black backgrounds those days.

Good day, all. Sunny and presently 32* here, looking for a high around 50* today. Yesterday was beautiful... 60* and sunny. Today is also my Chris's birthday. Hard to believe he is 33. Seems like just yesterday he was an uber-annoying pre-teen.

I'm trying to make me work my way through the misroute report. Hard to get excited on that one. Otherwise, exchanging e-mails with my sister. She is doing fine as far as the breast cancer goes. Right now she is having some stomach issues. I think maybe it is a byproduct of stress and diet, possibly allergies as well. I'm trying to talk her into having the Dr do allergy tests.

Ah well... Monday on everyone. I hope it is a good one!

Oh yeah... great Monday... just suffered catastrophic zipper failure. Guess I know what I'll be doing at lunch time.

You had a wadrobe malfunction?!? Who were you trying to impress? Or were you just trying to spice up the day?

Pretty sure with the present state of my person, I'm not impressing anyone. Of course while I was trying to safety pin the situation, the boss walked by and stopped with a puzzled look on his face.
