I'm fortunate, with the things my family are going through right now we agreed to just pick one name and spend $25 on that person.

All my friends have agreed to completely not exchange gifts this year, but rather just spend some time together over the holidays.

As a result my Christmas will be a stress-free experience. One gift is all I need to purchase and I've already done that.

We almost did this last year too, the family had just heard about the cancer with my Dad and we were pretty upset, so we did the one-gift thing. It was probably the best Christmas I've ever had. It had nothing to do with gifts, it was all about the people. I hope it becomes our new tradition.

Plus, I HATE crowded stores, so no matter how good the price I wouldn't venture in to one tomorrow. I'll gladly pay full price a month earlier and avoid the crowd.

LOL isn't that the biggest tv news headline the day after thanksgiving usually?? The different wallmart security cams catching people beating each other up with shopping carts and stuff at 5 am?

If I'm getting up at 5 am , its to make money , not spend it.

I never go shopping the day after Thanksgiving.  Bail would cost more than the money I'd save...

Started at 5am at Bon Ton for their $10 coupon

Then to Sears to get their $10 gift card - apparently police had to be called when they got to their 200th person in the cold line

Then to Hecht's - they put their $10 coupon in the paper, I didn't realize it so the saleslady pointed me in the direction of the nearest newspaper machine and held my stuff for me. I got the last paper!

Then to Kohl's who had the best early bird deals outside of electronics, which isn't on my list anyway.

Not bad - got most of my shopping done... mostly for the tyke.

I thought about it then I realized there was nothing in any of the ads that merited standing outside in 15 degree weather for 2 hours to be able to secure a copy

No way.  I went to the Best Buy doorbuster sale last year to get a new digital camera.  The one they had on mega-deal was gone by 3AM because the staff was outside handing out tickets to the people who got there well before then.  I ended up standing in line for 2 hours for the one I was able to get.  This year, Walmart.com.  Did anyone see the news clips of the lady at the Michigan WalMart who lost her wig in the mayhem?  She actually allowed herself to be trampled further in order to put the wig back on before getting up.  WOW!
