I'm dealing with tech support. I can't get to my backup/support site that is hosted at another provider. My access being blocked at the last router before the server that hosts my site. It seems to be an IP address block as I can get there from other locations not on this same ISP. I've been back and forth with them multiple times. I've provided proof with trace-routes that shows where the failure is happening. I think I've finally got them convinced there is a problem, now if I can get them to act on a fix ...
This day has mostly been dedicated to a problem customer. I had the chance to fire them this morning. I almost did. Instead, I told them I need requests in email. There's too much, "I gave you this two days ago," when I got it at 4pm the day before, and, "I told you that I wanted it like..." when they've told me something differently entirely. It's to the point having it in writing isn't good enough, I need something traceable and date stamped.
Man, I hate tech support like that Web. I always want to say, "Can't you get me to someone who actually knows how to fix it and not just read screen prompts?"
I had been on their support chat for quite a while. Finally the chat guy said I needed to open a ticket.
The ticket system said "Response time is currently 10 minutes".
I opened a ticket over 3 hours ago. After about 30 minutes of no response, I added another bit of info that may help them. Another half hour and I started getting email from the site I couldn't connect too.
I still don't know if they fixed the problem, or if it was just something in their router that worked itself out because they still haven't responded to the ticket.
Howdy all. I have spent the day accomplishing things. It is nice to be able to do this, that and the other thing and cross stuff off a list. I have a few items still out to the boss. I think I am in good shape for all the remaining 4/30, 5/1 and even the 5/15 deadlines.
I mowed the lawn last night in anticipation of today's rain. Yeah, the rain we were supposed to get, especially the heavy stuff, went south. We had some drizzle over night and this morning but I wanted a good soaking for my freshly mowed yard. Most of my front yard is finally looking healthly. I like that. I want it to stay that way.
Back to work. I have a few things I want to finish today so I can get them out of the way. I am aiming to go home on time (or close to it) two days in a row. Next week I think I can go back to actually leaving my desk for lunch.
