Web hasn't been feeling good today. Fighting a headache. Been running around too.
I did pick up some fabric and hinges after lunch. I just got natural muslin for the panels and a kind of red patterned material for the curtains.
This afternoon will be mostly sanding and rounding off edges with a router. Not much to show for pictures yet. If this afternoon goes well, maybe I will have another pic to post later.
Ok, I'm feeling better today so I'm back in the shop working again.
First thing we need to do is biscuit and glue on the 1" and 2" side pieces to the back side of the front frame. These little "wings" will make it so when we attach our side pieces, they will be able to close and lay down flat.
Also, we need to make our stage "floor" and curtain rod. The floor is just a 2" wide piece that will sit flat on the bottom piece of the stage window. The rod is also a 2" wide peice that has been mitered on the corners and glued to some little return pieces. The rod assemby is screwed on from the back side so we can take it off to change the curtains if need be.
Now, we'll work on rounding edges and sanding on the side pieces, attach them to the front piece with hinges, and we are ready to start spraying clear finish!
I agree that biscuits and gravy does sound good right now!
The side pieces are all sanded and corners rounded over. The sides are attached with hinges so they will fold down like:
And when they are opened up:
Tomorrow, we'll start spraying finish (no stain on this one). While the finish coats are drying, I'll work on the frames to which we'll attach the fabric that will fill up the sides and bottom of the front area. I think we're gonna make it by Christmas!
