West Wing star suffers fatal heart attack

this is a shocker!!!  I wasn't a fan of the series but I am curious to see how they will handle his death considering that he's a vice-presidential candidate now on the show

LOS ANGELES (AP) - John Spencer, who played vice presidential candidate Leo McGarry on NBC's "The West Wing," died of a heart attack Friday, his publicist said.

Spencer, 58, died at a Los Angeles hospital, said publicist Ron Hofmann.
Hofmann released no other immediate details.

Spencer's work on the show earned him an Emmy Award for supporting actor in a drama series in 2002, as well as a Golden Globe nomination. Before appearing on the hit political drama, Spencer played the quirky and charismatic New York attorney Tommy Mullaney on "L.A. Law."

OH MY GOODNESS!

That is creepy!

He suffered a heart-attack on the show only last season. it was the most realistic portrayal of one I'd ever seen (at least it seemed to be). Not over dramatic, it seemed just right.

I really liked him, and will miss him from the show. He was an integral part of the storyline right now too, as he is running for Vice President and was expected to win.

How terrible.  Yes, he was a really good actor.  Sad to see him pass.
