Has anyone ever clicked on the banner ad above?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone clicked the banner ad above?  If so, just once?  Or do you check out several of the ads?

I was just thinking that those advertisers pays per-click, I've probably refreshed this forum 50,000 times or more since we installed it and I have NEVER clicked on a single ad.

Really makes me rethink banner advertising for the station.  We had done it once, and we got some traffic, but not many listeners out of it.  It seems like it's become such a common thing I don't even really notice the ads are there anymore.

You're right JR . . . banner ads don't work well.

I do click on them now and then, but for different reasons. I know that this forum is a free service because of the ads. Clicking on an ad now and then might just help them to keep providing the service.

So, when I click on the Victoria Secret ads, it is ONLY out of my duty to the station and the forum to help see it continue.

Yea there was that chick in the panties ad that I deemed inappropriate. I kept clicking that to see if it was still innapropriate.

I think I clicked on one just out of curiosity.  There is one that shows as "forbidden by ratings check" which I tend to wonder about.  Mostly I ignore them.

Innapropriate for a family friendly forum, very appropriate for my house.

No, I thought the banner ads came with the forum, since the forum is free, I never thought you got paid per click. I'll be clicking on them a lot more often, just for the heck of it. We don't have to follow through or buy anything, right? I really don't ever look at them, either.

I didn't mean JR gets money . . . the forum providers get money for the clicks.

Yea the only time the station makes ad money is when we sell on-air ad time.

Like that one last year:

MY NAME IS JD and come Sunday nights, do I get a hankering for Ed's Sports Drink.

It's Orangelicious!!

I, too, just ignore them. On every site I visit. I have never clicked on one. If you want us to I will, but if you are thinking of it for advertsing, I don't know. I would ignore it, but maybe if I could see or read it, I might think different!

No,

We're not gonna do that type of advertising.  I was just actually feeling kind of sorry for the advertisers because I think they're wasting there money, particularly on this type of site, because most of us keep refreshing the page and the banner ads keep making impressions that are worthless.

Oh well, it's not OUR lost revenue.

I do wonder though how they'll ever manage to make money with internet advertising.  At some point they're gonna have to figure it out or a lot of content sites are gonna have to start charging a fee, and that would suck.

I REALLY hate those ads they have now that superimpose themselves right over the web page you're looking at.  VERY ANNOYING.  And I dont' think it's good policy to annoy the people you're trying to convince to use your product.

I agree about the annoyance factor. I bet it really annoyed you to see that girl's butt everyday
