I'll be there. But I'll probably hit the hay around 1:00. I got to work on Sunday. Or should I say I have to play on Sunday and get paid for it!

Its usually midnight before I get to sleep most every day so that won't be a big deal here.

Looks like we are going to just stay home. Mrs. Web said she might pick up a couple prime ribs for something a little special.

I always make it.  The hubby always trys, but hasn't succeeded in the last 10 years.

Personally, I think it's a crime to miss midnight on New Years, so I always do it, even though there have been some years I've needed the aid of coffee.

You know what I almost enjoy more is New Years Day- usually just a lazy day, a big old go out to breakfast day, the diner is crowded, but there's no hurry. Bowl games on the tv, maybe head to the bar in the afternoon meet up with friends to drink away the hangover....thats a nice day right there.

Like some of the others I'm usually up anyway.  This is my absolute, FAVORITE holiday of the whole year (I guess you could say my year peaks on day one).

I'm already getting excited to make 2006 an amazing year.  Gonna rebound with my businesses and get back to complete self-employment.  I finally have a plan to start working on my retirement savings.  Gonna get in better shape.  There's nothing like a clean slate to excite a young man with a box of chalk in his pocket

There will be some wierdness this year though.  For the past five years I've stopped going out on New Years and always had the folks over.

My Dad would make his famous home-made pizza.  He'd usually be sick around this time of year and never made it till midnight, sometimes he even went home early.  For whatever reason I think EVERY single year he and my Mom would bicker a lot on New Years eve.  Nothing serious, just that annoying bicker older married couples can sometimes do.  In the end they'd go home shortly after midnight and I'd be thinking to myself "why do I bother with this every year, it's always horrible".

This year I'll actually be missing that bickering.  Another reminder that while life goes on after the passing of someone you care about, nothing is ever the same.

BUT, I'm an optimist, and '06 is gonna be a hell of a year!  YOU CAN BET ON IT!

Riggs!

I'd love that we'd build the station big enough provide us both with enough income so we can be full time djs!

I had you figured for a partier Thump.  I thought you'd be out on the town.

What movies do you have planned for the night?  I already know the food will be good, if the movies are right maybe I'll crash the party!

JD,

I'm sorry to say, that despite all the enthusiasm and excitement I have building within for '06, this station is not part of it

I hope I'm wrong, and maybe when you and I return to the airwaves in January we'll turn it around, but the rapid decline of listenership in the past two months has really sapped my confidence in this ever being anything more than a very small hobby.

I mean for craps sake, we're talking audiences that are barely breaking the 40's right now!  We were in the 130's three months ago!

Hopefully you can re-inspire me next time you're in to do your show

Jeremy,

Can you go back and see the play log from that period? Can you see trends? Maybe it's just a blip on the radar.

Ray,

I think it's more than a blip.  We've been doing this for three years now and we've had our blips before, this is a huge decline in a time of year when we're normally thriving.

Internet radio quite possibly is just being passed up by time.  Satellite radio is the "it" technology, a lot of employers are stopping people from listening at work (which is where our main audience is).

Then again, the station I watch the closest (KLIP Radio) still brings in 700 or more listeners every day.

Riggs,

I think I may have an idea of the reason for the blip. A huge competitor to internet radio ran a huge promotion with free sign up through december. I won't, obviously, go into the details, but after december you gotta pay if you wanna play. I expect to see an increase in numbers after the new year! No way can we just suddenly have this HUGE drop without reason!

Have you noticed, in spite of the drop, that we've steadily maintained the position of 6-7th hugest 80's category station for live 365?? Other stations must be suffering as well!

Not to dog your youth, but I used to feel that way, but two kids and 36 years and it is just another night some years!

JR, compare the summer and the big numbers to the winter and the low numbers. Other than the season, I can think of one big difference. During the big numbers, you were on the Breakfast Club every day, JD was doing his show every week, things were changing, things were new. But lately, there hasn't been a whole lot to keep the casual listener's attention. The majority of your traffic is from Live365, and the majority of those listeners click on a station and listen to it for a short while and decide whether or not they are going to stay. I'd bet most of them don't come to the website and don't request, and rarely do people read the description that tells them that they can. So, right now, they hear a block of music, just like any other internet radio station, where before, there was actually a live DJ! You discredit it too much, but I think that makes a huge difference.

that HAS to be our selling point LIVE DJS!

I wonder how much renting a billboard would cost....1 well placed billboard, maybe in Times Square....

Hey know what I could do is send out a feeler to the UWM newsrag- see if they'd like to feature a story on the little station that could...them kids need something to interesting to write about for a change...a break from P vs CP.

Riggs when I was younger and had a better body I could party with the best of them. Friends and I would go to Concessions and party our asses off and get drunk into oblivion. While I did have a few shots I was always careful to maintain sobriety so while everyone else had champagne I had water or Coke. I was always sober and the shots were like jello shots or Derkeypur which is the sour pucker, mmmmmmmmmmm.

We always used to go to Dennys and stay there till 5 or 6. depending on if i hooked up I would join them at that time or when i was done. course if the person was a hottie I would give them more than an hour as long as they did not pass out or fall asleep.

Movies are going to be Qauntum Leap, Dallas Season 3, or one of these fine films
