He's got a Super Bowl ring and three MVP awards. He's led his team to the playoffs 10 times in the salary cap era, tops in the NFL.

Today, the 396th touchdown pass of his career was a 9-yarder to wide receiver Antonio Chatman in the third quarter, a score that put the Packers ahead for good.

For his career, Favre has completed 4,678 of 7,611 passes (61.5%) for 53,615 yards, 396 touchdowns and 255 interceptions.

In 14 seasons with the Packers, Favre has never missed a start after coming off the bench on Sept. 20, 1992 for an injured Don Majkowski and rallying his team to a 24-23 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

I think Brett can do another year or two , I believe it'll come down to weather or not he thinks the Pac can be a contender. They did have a lot of hurt people this year.. and some changes in the coaching staff ( all ) wouldn't hurt.

I agree, Dave. Does he want to be a part of a restructuring and rebuilding process? Does he have anything left to prove? Would outing Sherman and bringing in Mariucci be THE thing to convince him to give it one more go? For old times sake? Does he even believe that?

I think it will take a major restructing of the organization in order to turn the tables around; Brett himself has even questioned the smartness of the organizations move in wanting to keep him around. This was a rough, rough season. I think the champ has to really sit back, do some soul-searching, really figure it out.I know the hunger is still there. I respect his decision, either way!

Favre should go down as the best ever

Jimmy Johnson / FOXSports.com

It would shock me to see Brett Favre playing next season. Had he planned on playing another season for the Packers, I think we would have seen rookie quarterback Aaron Rodgers playing Sunday against Seattle. This game meant nothing to either team.

It's almost like he had told the Green Bay coaching staff that this was going to be his last game in Lambeau Field and he wanted to play. He left the field waving to the fans and all the body language, the emotion on his face and all the comments he has made, well, it tells me we have seen the last of Brett Favre.

Just listen to his interviews this season. He has said he couldn't imagine playing in another uniform.

It was a great, great career. He may have been the greatest quarterback that has ever played. That may make Terry (Bradshaw) mad and maybe Joe Montana, but he was definitely the best I ever saw play.

Physically, he was as a fun quarterback to watch. He was a gunslinger, a gambler. He had great physical presence. He could avoid the rush. He could break tackles. He was a tremendous competitor. He outwardly showed his passion for this game. Plus, he has his Super Bowl ring.

I still think he has the talent and physical ability to play. But I do believe it is time for him to move on.

I think he could help a lot of teams, but you would have to throttle him down a little bit. He could be productive for any team in this league. He couldn't do it the way he played this season. But if he were playing for a better team, he wouldn't have played the way he did this year. I thought there were a lot of times when he was simply throwing the ball up for grabs, hoping to make something happen.

I just don't know if it would be a lot of fun for him to go play someplace else. If he went to another team, he would have a new supporting cast and a whole new offensive system. It would be a tremendous time commitment on his part. I just don't know if he wants to do that and move to a different city.

Playing for the Packers, he could spend his off-seasons in Mississippi. He didn't have to spend a lot of time around the other players, which he didn't. But with a new team, he would have to prove himself all over again. He would have to work at building a rapport with new teammates. I don't see Favre doing that.

It would only surprise me to see him next year in other than a KC Chief's uniform.  We tend to hire all of the really great quarterbacks after they are not so great anymore.
