WOW! Sherman Fired, Jeremy Owed Cases & Cases Of Soda!

Mike Sherman was fired from the Green Bay Packers today!

three weeks into the season I made three seperate bets for a total of four cases of soda that he would lose his job after the season.

I must admit I thought I was gonna be paying out some soda, instead, looks like I'll be drinking free for the next several months! WOO HOO!!!

The BAD news is this probably means Favre will walk away. He has no interest in learning a new coaches system and stuff. Although, I bet he'd stick around if Marriucci were the new coach...

Early poll results from local newsrag:

Do you agree with the firing of Packers head coach Mike Sherman?

Yes (53.1%)

No (46.9%)

Total votes: 2,182

Note: These polls aren't based on any scientific sampling and they don't have margins of error. They are what they are - the opinions of those readers who choose to click and answer the question. We hope they are entertaining and maybe a bit enlightening.

I saw that poll to on JS ONline JD.

It's moving fast, there were only 1790 votes when I read it a few minutes ago!

I was surprised it's so close to a 50/50 split. I think if Thompson had waited a week he'd have more people on his side. Most people are probably shocked it happened so fast.

I voted yes Although I'm sad because I do think it will mean the end of Favre, but Sherman was just never able to get us through the playoffs, and in the end, it's all about the rings baby!

to be honest about it , I would have fired him a few weeks ago , after their Sunday night fiasco . I've seen better play calling and clock management in pee wee legues.

Hmm .. seems I said as much that night , as for a "system " heres a thought - let Brett call the plays. I mean it's not like he'd be the 1st to do it.

I voted yes too, although I agree the timing was a bit quick. Maybe its merciful that way- don't let Sherman stew for 2 weeks wondering about his future.

It was hard to access that page! like the whole state is clammering to access the poll!

"Good for the team in the long run" means we have a rebuilding to do that might take at least 3 seasons. sigh. Maybe I should take up speed-skating on winter sundays for the next few years...

I am sure Favre could call the plays- in fact has done so sucessfully in the past. I think its a matter of having all these new guys being on the same page.

Maybe he can have a cameo in the next version of The Longest Yard.

Oh wait, they already did the remake...guess he'll just have to sit there and rot like a criminal then.
