And is it better than the one you have now? This might be a repeated ?, but there are a lot of newbies!
My first job was at Baskin Robins! It was better than my job now, in that I had ice cream all day at my finger tips. And my metabolism was that of a teenager! The pay was ok, obviously I make better money now. But I had no stress and all my customers were happy!
I was an after school janitor at a grade school when I was 14. I originally had to do it because I got in a little trouble and the principal was my next door neighbor, so he said I could sweep and clean toilets for my punishment. They liked my work so they hired me on part time after school and during two summers. I painted and stripped....

I worked for the City in the electrical department.
It was a temporary job that was supposed to last 8 weeks.
They warned me when they hired me that if I was even a minute late they would let me go.
I was 2 minutes late in week 5 and was fired moments after I walked in the door. The losers hadn't even gotten up from their coffee & donuts yet (they usually sat around and gabbed for the first 30 minutes every day before we'd head out on the trucks).
My first paid job was my Sr. year in high school. I worked after school for a lumber yard making deliveries and stocking the lumber bins. I worked through that summer too before going to tech school the next fall. I was making $4.25/hr which wasn't too bad for a high school kid back in '84.
my first job was a bus boy for a local pizza joint. I hated it. I wanted to be the one sitting there on friday night enjoying the meal, not the one getting my fingers dirty with someone's left-overs. I still go there for dinner from time to time. 2 of the waitresses were there 20 yrs before I was hired, and are still there 20 yrs after I left!

Working at a record store (Big surprise...) I LOVED the job, regardless of that fact that I was making minimum wage.

I started babysitting when I was 10. Did all kinds of odd jobs before that. Worked at my grandfather's car lot answering phones for a summer. My first "real" job was at a pizza parlor when I was 16. I worked at a pizza parlor. Minimum wage. I think $3.35/hour. I worked there for about 3 years. Made it up to shift leader & a whopping $3.85/hour.
Yeah. My current job pays better but it is WAY more stressful.
My first paying job was working for my father's business. I think I was 8 or 9 at the time... he had greenhouses growing hydroponic tomatoes. My job was to sweep the greenhouses. That business didn't last long, but he kept his "company" for the rest of his life. After he passed, I learned that I had a position on the "Board of Directors"... I think I was the Chief Financial Officer or something.
My first real job was McDonald's. I hated that job. When I first started working there I hated it so bad I used to have nosebleeds and the shakes when I would get ready for work. I eventually got past that, but never really learned to like that job.

Wow, it must be McDonalds, because I had that too! I would literally have nightmares about going in to work! In fact, I think that's when my insomnia started and didn't end until years later.
my next job was working at a custard-n-burger stand. It was alright. but one summer night I simply decided that enough was enough. it was a bright sun-shiny early eve, I wanted to be in the line ordering the ice-cream, not the one having to serve it. I knew it would tic a few people off if I left. but thats what I did. I simply had had enough. (also knew at that time that I'd ever be able to do that.)

I don't care what anyone says... that is a stressful job. The nosebleeds and shaking stopped after they fired my friend who was training me. I felt really bad about it, because she got me my job there, but she was a miserable witch to me while we were on the clock. Much later on, after I became a shift manager, I started having nightmares in which I got killed every time. Really! Mostly someone would come in the lobby and start shooting. That was not so far fetched though... I worked in a less than desirable store location. I never had insomnia... I did work really hard on developing an alcohol problem but got out of there before I got it established.

If you think about it, McHell is a very common first job for people, and it's very common to have young inexperienced people in supervisory positions. That adds a lot to the stress factor of just the job itself. In the two months I was there, they lost 2 of my timecards and 2 of my paychecks. I never got to leave on time. Any time I mention McHell, my mom always tells about the time she came to pick me up and I was stuck at the drive through window and the supervisor wouldn't let me leave because she was busy talking to her friend and didn't want to take over. The insomnia probably came from closing Friday night and opening Saturday morning. Man, I hated that place!!!
I don't have many good memories of that place either and to this day generally refuse patronize them.
One good thing...I did meet my husband there. He was the store's First Assistant Manager... we started dating after my store was sold to an independent owner (complete bunghole) and he moved to another corporate store in the hard core 'hood.

When I was about 12 I sold Grit , then in my teens made money picking stones in the spring , baling hay in the summer and cutting cedar boughs in the fall / early winter . Made some decent cash and the farmers would always buy a keg. My first - Uncle Sam wants your taxes -job was the Navy.
My first job was when I was 13. I was a paperboy and I actually loved that job. less stress than now but a heck of alot less money. I was named newscarrier of the year 2 years in a row. kind of special as i was nominated by my customers.
holy moly! I remember getting this boyscout magazine and the ad in back "SELL GRIT"- dave you actually sold it! I remember thinking "what the **** is GRIT and who around here would read it???" But inevitably they were plugged, every mag....
