I was once a power seller with over 13,000 feedbacks, but it got too hard to make any money selling. Expecially with their ever increasing fees.

I used to buy too, but not very often, I was mostly a seller.

If you have something unique, ebay can be a great place to sell it. If you want to get something cheap, it's a great place to buy, but you have to be wary of the con artists.

I've only sold one thing which is my old Radio Shack audio mixer. I got almost as much as I paid for it many years earlier.

I've bought probably less that 20 things all Ebay. I just bought an expanded memory card ($40) for my cell phone two days ago. Yesterday, I got an email from the seller that the stock had to be returned to the manufacturer due to being defective. I see they are still running auctions for them so I don't have a good feeling about this one. Monday I'm going to tell them to refund my money and if they don't, I'll open a case with PayPal and have them get it back for me.

This is the first time I've ever had trouble.

THey probably are out of stock of them Web and just trying to buy time. That's common on ebay among the folks who try to make a living at it.

I ran into the problem on occassion myself when I was selling CD's. I'd have them due in on a TUE and start the auctions the Saturday before, then when the shipment arrived my supplier had screwed up the order so I had to tell the buyer I couldn't fill their bid.

I didn't like to do that, but these were items that came in every week like clockwork and the distributor would go and screw it up.

The one thing I WOULDN'T do is lie to a customer, and it sounds to me like this person is lying to you if they're still selling them while they're waitng for yours to go back to the distrbutor because of a defect.

Yeah Ruby, I did real well for about two years.

Nothing but CD's, mostly forgotten 80's stuff. I was selling about $5,000 worth of CD's a month. Of course, only about a quarter of that was profit, but it was a nice income for two years.

It dried up really fast though. Postal increases, constant ebay increases, fraudelant checks and money orders, increased pricing by the labels, the growth of internet downloading and ebay making the decision to let labels sell their cd's directly on the site all conspired over the course of about six months to bring a rapid end to the gravy train for me.

Well it sounds like it was lucrative for a bit!

I don't have the patience to sell! I wish I did because I know I could make a fortune off my kids clothes, but I'm too lazy I guess!

Well, I beleive the key to selling and making money on ebay is to have a common product.

I mean, I only needed one type of bubble mailer (to fit a cd in) and I had a group of 300 or so Cd's that I made ads for and just kept relisting.

If you have to create a listing for every item you sell, it will drive you mad

I've bought and sold. It's so hard to find jeans for my hubby, I usually buy them on eBay. I use Google's Froogle a lot, but some of those little e-stores are so bad, that I prefer eBay for deals. I've sold a few things, just because I didn't want them any more, don't want to throw them away, and know no one to give it to. Might as well make money off of it. Things like Nintendo games, an ink jet refill that I opened and then realized it was the wrong thing, etc. I've also got an old leather coat that's in awesome condition that I need to sell, but all the consignment stores in town will only take teeny-bopper stuff or retro stuff, and this coat is neither, so I figure I'll try to sell it on eBay. That sort of stuff.
