She's big on independent music, connecting with the community, etc. Her latest album is available to download for whatever price you're willing to pay (including free, I believe), or you can stream it online at her website: http://amandapalmer.net/music/ She gave a TED talk about how not to MAKE people pay for music, but how to LET them: http://www.ted.com/talks/amanda_palmer_the_art_of_asking.html
A bit of warning, she does drop F-bombs, and she likes to get naked. I think I'm posting the clean versions of these videos, but proceed at your own risk. You can listen to them all at her website without watching the videos.
The song from her newest album which I think will appeal to the general public the most is Want It Back (the nudity in this version is blurred out, but it's still obvious it's there. It's just in the very beginning and very end. But the song is really good.):
The song that will make you cry, especially while watching the video, The Bed Song:
A lot of people like Killing Type, as do I, but it's not one of my absolute favorites. Cool video though. (I won't overload you with videos, they're easy to see on her site if you're interested.) I also really like Melody Dean. It's really catchy, but I think some people might not like the lyrics. Smile (Pictures or It Didn't Happen) is one of those songs that has to be played at top volume to be appreciated. Do It With A Rockstar is AWESOME! But the video is very NSFW (and I think some here wouldn't like the content of the video). I also like Grown Man Cry, Lost, and Massachusettes Avenue.
It's one of those albums where I don't love every song, but I like most of them, and the ones I do like, I love.
In case you're not familiar with Amanda Palmer, her most popular song was probably from her band The Dresden Dolls: Coin Operated Boy:
I love Florence & the Machine! Our local station is oversaturating us with Of Monsters and Men right now, so I might like them better once they lay off a bit.
I hate when stations do that. I rarely listen to the radio. DH throws on the new classic rock station in the car. So mostly hairbands and such which I like but I even get tired of that. I bounce around from Pandora, Spotify, Last.fm and my iPhone.

I've really enjoyed listening to the FFR recordings. It reminded me of the good times but also how it was just nice to have it playing in the background. I didn't always get to tune into JD's shows but I always liked Underground 80's. There's some stuff I probably would just flip the station on if I were elsewhere but on FFR I'm just bopping my head in enjoyment.

I'm in one of those funks where I'm tired of all the music that I have. Maybe I just need to put my whole collection (32+ gigs!) on and hit random. Even on Slacker, I'm not listening to any of my custom stations. I need something new, or to make something old new again.
