Two parties to plan

Ok, call me lame, but I could use some ideas or advice.

I have two birthday's next month- the Boy and Little E.

For her I am thinking of going to Build a Bear with about 6 of her "real friends"- as real as it gets for a 3 year old. My hubby wants to go to Chuck E Cheese (we were just there!) and invite a whole bunch of kids, keep up with the Jones', my actual neighbor's name . I know he is thinking presents. But to be honest the kid lacks for nothing! Between all her hand me downs (I saved everything from both teens from 5 til current!) and everything we have bought her and just having had Xmas, I am thinking no toys needed- let her treat her friends to a more intimate setting. All the while, keeping everyone out of my house! We can do cake at home if they do not allow it there, I am thinking not. I just want something new. We have done- Chuck E Cheese, a local Children's Musuem, at people's homes

Anyway- since some of you all have kids- which sounds like a better idea? I will investigate more into Build a Bear tonight.

For the Boy, he wants nothing. He is turning 14 (safe on the roads for one more year!) He has three real good friends and I offered to take them anywhere- not even with me, and he says no. I tried the gift angle, but to no avail- he too is spolied! So I am thinking about doing something surprise, but I did that last year and he big mouth friend told him.

Maybe some ideas- or stories about your 14th birthday party.

depending on the weather , maybe an outdoor thing for little e , a kids zoo or a park .

for zac ,let em have a couple friends come over for pizza and video games ( in his room )

or let em go to the theatre  or a bowling alley that serves food. or you can give em a

handful of ones and drop him off at a ' gentlemens club'

I do not trust weather Dave and do not want to clean up after people. If I have it here, I have to invite the whole block- 14 kids under 10! and their parents! Zoo is 100 miles away and the park- do not trust the weather again. I just do not want to go to Chuck E Cheese to keep up with anyone.

For the boy- he is adamant about nothing. We did bowling last year.

JD, I am not either- what did you do when you were 14?

Actually, I would suggest Chuck E Cheese or something like that for E, and save the Build A Bear for when she's just a tad bit older (maybe next year). The Build A Bear thing is something you'll want her to remember. There's also a lot of places that do parties for little kids, such as McDonalds or the Y. (Man, I want someone to do a Build A Bear party for me!)

I always got a cookout for my birthday, but then once I got in my teens, my parents would put the huge family sized tent up in the yard and I'd have a sleepover. So maybe you could put up a tent or rent or borrow an RV, run the tv and video games out to it, order a pizza, and let him have a sleepover. That way, they are away from parents and feel like they are on their own, and the only thing you'll have to clean up is putting away the tv and tent/rv.

Zach's problem is that he does not want anything- no party, no friends! He has hiss pwn aprtment- so to speak, and we did the sleepover thing the last 5 years, he just keeps saying NO!

Little E is over Chuck E after looking at the Build a Bear website- I am going to call today and find out if they have any openings that weekend.

I like the Build A Bear for Little E. Do you have any craft an hobby places near you? Sometimes they do partys with kids. Finger paints, clay, stuff like that. I know one near us does that.

One word for the boy.....Paintball!

My son loved playing Lazer Tag for one of his friends' birthdays.  Granted he's 11 but there were lots of older kids there, too.

We took my son & 3 friends to The Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City.  It's a hotel with an indoor water park.  When they were sick of the water park, we went to the room & played video games & watched movies.  Maybe you can find something like that.

Paintball would be a good thing.

I also agree with Ray. We have a couple of craft places here in Tulsa that do the birthday thing. Mcdonalds is always a sure thing

Well, it is not Build a Bear, it is Create a Bear- same thing. But they are it! I will call back tomorrow to reserve the party- I just need to get a head count. But for $22 a kid- and there will be at most 7, she will get cake, soda, ice cream and a room. They also each get to make a bear and take it home! Accessories will be on the parents if they want it!

The boy keeps shooting down all ideas. I am thinking of telling him fine! But how can a mom do that?

Ruby - He is being a teenager. At least you are offering ideas. That is more than my parents ever did for us. Maybe that is why birthdays are no big thing with me. One year I told my mother I didn't want a cake. I didn't get a cake for a few years after that - until I complained about it.
