My poor ears!

So, what type of things make your ears bleed? I can deal with almost anything, but I can't stand it when someone pronounces Celtic as "Selltick," or Coupon as "Quepon."

Anyone else? I know I'm not the only neurotic one out there.

I have only one major pet peeve when it comes to language and I've mentioned it several times before.

The phrase is SUPPOSED TO BE...

I couldn't care less

Almost EVERYONE says

I could care less.

I COULD CARE LESS makes no sense, it is suggesting you COULD care less, therefore you do care SOMEWHAT.

In my life I have only twice run into a person who has said it right the first time and they are always immediately placed high regard in my memory.

One thing I think I've mentioned before is that I'm trying to work on speaking better and without this darn southern indiana accent. I just tried it out, and I do say "couldn't," but the "n't" gets lost. It comes out more like, "I coulden care less."

Very FUNNY Ray! Better check those beers I'll be sending you. LOTSA DIFFERENT THINGS LOOK LIKE BEER MY FRIEN!D!!!!!

Web, I think that's a big Missouri thing!

My Dad spent many years in MO and when he came home he was saying WARSH, and other ones.

Like instead of wire he pronounced it WHY-ER

or TIE-ER for tire

Used to drive me nuts!

"Axe" instead of "ask."  I can't tell you how many PROFESSIONALS on the telephone I've spoken with who have said,  "I want to axe you.."  "AHHHHH!!" - runs for her life from crazed maniacal axe-murderer.

LS, that is a joke amongst our family, we say axe to each other because we know we all hate it and it bothers us!

When I first moved here, people where always telling me to say car, apartment,etc... anything with a "R" I think it is a location thing too!

Down here, people say (black people) scraw, not straw- that bugs me!

My grandpa used to say Pantycakes instead of Pancakes.

We'd be taking a trip to the casino and he'd always say "Hey, let's stop somewhere for some pantycakes".
