Thanks once more Mz and Ray!!

for the Oliver Winery Wines and the Oaken Barrel Brews! Thank you Pacers for losing the first game of this season's competition between yourselves and the Bucks!

The wine was wonderful. Had that great "we are not a wine machine, but a winery" taste to it. Sweet, bold, and the red was a superior "table" wine. This was no 1/2 gallon jug of Carlo Rossi!

And Ray, as I sit here with a Snake Pit Porter as I could not fall asleep tonight, I am just stunned at what a great beer this is. It seems that sometimes a brewer's beers will all have a similar signature taste- but each one of these brews is its own delicious entity.

As the Bucks lost the 2nd game, Riggs and I are returning the favor! Mz, I am told there is a grocer here in town that carries the Door County wines that I had mentioned, and Ray, we want to get you a variety pack of Sprecher beers brewed in Glendale, WI-I think you will like these!

* By the way the next meeting between our teams, at least here in Milwaukee (not sure if we are there again?) is April 1- and I am already in the works to have tickets for this game!

My pleasure JD! I enjoy a friendly wager much more than the finger-pointing and expletive laden "your team sucks. No your team sucks" mentality. I guess that comes with age.

It's also fun to go buy this stuff for you. I like being able to share a little bit of Bloomington, and it fun to go to the winery and try to decide what type of wine to buy for you. Southern Indiana is kind of a misplaced extension of Napa Valley, there is a ton of wineries down here, so if I ever have to buy you more wine, I'll get it from a different winery.

Speaking of Wineries I found one by me. I didn't know it existed. I'm going to check them out sometime. Maybe this Sunday since I've got to drop the kid off for soccer practice.

Just out of curiosity, I checked for wineries in Milwaukee- none!!! THe nearest one is in Burlington, about 45 miles from here, my folks live there, and they've never even heard of the place.

Southern Indiana Wineries

Unfortunately, I usually can't afford to go to the wine festival, but it sounds like fun!

I'd say the only winery is Cedar Creek Winery in Cedarburg.  That might be closer than Burlington.  Otherwise, all of the great ones this fine state has to offer are up north.

Just my two cents.  I perk up at anything alcohol-related.

Sad.

Is the pope catholic?

No seriously.  Cedar Creek winery is located on the northern end of the downtown Cedarburg tourist trap.

I'd recommend their Vidal, the Settlement Gold, and their Waterfall Mist. The Vidal I believe has won a bunch of awards.

Their tours I think are a buck everyday, but you can go in and sample their wines for free.

I like both, but it's usually just me, and dry reds take longer to finish a bottle.
