What’s the most you’d spend on a pair of shoes?

I need to get a new pair of sneakers. Everything I have ever read says to rotate exercise shoes every six months. Of course after six months, my sneakers still look new- I rarely wear them besides to work out in. My hubby thinks it is ridiculous and says I should just spend more. But I told him that does not matter. I can really tell a difference when I switch and lately I have been buying Easy Spirit areobic shoes at Marshalls for only $25.00.

My son on the other hand got a pair of sneakers for Xmas that cost $100! My hubby had a fit, but he really did not get much more and he treats them like gold. Cleans them everyday and such and they were a 1/2 size too big, so they might last.

What is too much for you- sneakers or any shoe??

Sneakers, $30 tops!

When I used to need heavy work shoes they could run up towards $50, glad I don't need them now because the last time I looked I think they were over $100

The one's I have on right now are DC skateboarding ones, they cost about $112 but I have had them a while and they are still in great condtion, when I buy cheap ones they just don't last.

These are mine but in dark blue, I need some new ones though, gonna get some soon, probably more DC's

For the last few years, I've been buying the cheap $15-$20 Walmart/K-Mart sneakers. I have custom-fitted insoles because my feet were killing me when I was woodworking 8-12 hrs/day on concrete.

My insoles are great for standing around and working, but they dont' work very well for walking. My cheap shoes were hurting my feet when I go out to walk, so this time, I bought a pair of Nikes that were on sale for $40. I had really forgotten how much better a more expensive shoe can feel.

I would not pay much more than that though. When my son gets old enough to want the "trendy" stuff, if he wants to work and come up with the extra $s, fine, but I can't see myself ever spending $100 on shoes for him.

Those DC's are popular here too Ultimo- my son says they are skateboarder shoes! My step daughter has a pink pair- so when the hubby freaked about the boy's Jordans- I told him how much his ex wife spent on his daughter's shoes. Shut him right up!

I bought a pair of shows almost five years ago now and they just won't die! Best shoes I've ever had!

They're starting to look ratty, but they feel great and they're still not wearing out, just cosmetically looking a little rough.

I think I paid $35 for them.

I would say my absolute limit is $60. But I actually bought these shoes I'm talking about in a 2 for $69.99 sale at Kohls (neither are name brands) and I still have the other pair (a different style and brand) that I've only worn like twice! So when I finally do give up on the ones I'm wearing, I have a brand new five-year-old pair of shoes waiting in the closet.

The funny thing is, I'm really hard on my shoes, and every other pair I've ever owned has worn out in only six months or so. These must be magic shows!

I just remembered . . . about 12-13 years ago, I did spend $120 on a nice pair of boots. I only wear them for those "in between" occasions where a pair of black jeans and nice shirt are enough. They are just now starting to look a little worn. $10/year for boots is not too bad, I guess.

Yeah I know they are popular over there, they are quite hard to get hold of in stores over here, there are only certain stores that stock tem here, by the way I don't skateboard, just like the shoes, I want some Adio one's next, will have to get those of the internet I think.

quite like these ones

Web- I said heck no to $100 pair of shoes, but he offered to pay half or even all of it to have them. It was a Xmas gift and he really worships them. So say that now, but you might eat those words!

I would not spend that much on me!

I'm a big shopper &  tight wad.  I buy all the name brands (Nike, Reebok, And1, Vans, Adidas, etc) but I've never paid more than $30 for any of them.  Kohls is famous for selling the name brands on their clearance racks...without advertising.  My best buy for myself was a pair of And1 basketball shoes for $10.  My best buy for my son was a pair of And1s for $6.

Basketball shoes are a different story though.  Both of my kids play so they both needed good shoes to play in.  My limit on basketball shoes is $65.

Casual shoes for me...the most was a $35 pair of Eastlands I got on sale about 5 years ago.  They're still in great shape.

I don't even know what my husband spends.  He buys new tennis shoes a couple of times a year...but that's all he ever wears so they burn out fast.

Thats why I wrote that if he wants to work for the $'s to make up the difference, thats fine.

It does depend which kind of shoes you are talking about here.

For my sneakers (walking, runnning or cross-trainers) I get them through Road Runner sports. Because the have wider width shoes available. They have all the major brands. Most of them can be expensive. I will not buy them unless the are already severly discounted, either clearance or discontinued. And then on top of that I can usually surf the web to find a coupon for another 15 or 20% off. It makes it a reasonable deal. I have been able to get good shoes that last and retail for over $110 for $30. If I just need sneakers to wear around, then I do find great deals in Kohl's.

For better dress shoes or work shoes, I just have to find them when I can. I still have a pair of shoes that I have had for about four years now. And I wera them often - two or three times a week. Kohl's is good for that too since the carry some wider widths.

I like to shop for shoes at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, etc... I have found as I get older- quality shoes do make a huge difference. But I am also a cheap skate bargain hunter!

Comfortable shoes!

I would spend between $40-75 for a shoe....if it was comfortable. Patience for sales and closeouts have guaranteed that I never have to spend more than that on a pair of shoes...and generally, its right in the middle of that range.

I won't spend over $50 on a pair of shoes. Any time I've spent that much on shoes, they just end up wearing down sooner. I usually get my shoes from Payless, because they seem to fit the best there (I have wide feet).

But when it comes to shoes, I am a pretty typical female. For winter, I have a pair of casual non-work shoes, a pair of black nice work shoes, a pair of brown nice work shoes, and a pair of black boots. Once warm weather hits, I will either throw those shoes out or donate them, depending on their condition, then break out the summer shoes: 1 nice pair of closed toed shoes, strappy white heels, strappy brown heels, strappy black heels, and I end up with about 6 pairs of different colored flip flops. Last fall I bought a pack of 6 pairs of flip flops, each a different color, and they're practically new, so I'm hoping I'll resist the temptation to buy a bajillion pairs of flip flops this summer. So, when it comes to shoes, I usually barely spend $20, and they work just fine.

I wonder how much of the Phillipino GNP Imelda Marcos spends on her shoes?

The most I'll usually spend on shoes or sneakers is $50.  I think I spent that on a pretty decent pair of New Balance fitness sneakers last fall.  Usually I end up spending in the $35-$50 range.  I did see some supposedly high-tech New Balance running sneakers at the time for about $125 that I really would've like to have, but I just couldn't justify it, despite all the hype about shock resistance, etc.

I'd have to say, for a really nice pair of dress shoes for a suit or something I would probably be willing to pay up to $80.
