MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) -- A pregnant woman has been taken into custody after three of her 14 children, showing signs of abuse, were found taking refuge in an abandoned house, police said Friday.
"The kids told us that the suspect regularly punches them with her fists and hits them with a broomstick and belt," police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said.
Twin 9-year-old boys and a 6-year-old boy were found Thursday night with scars and bruising to their backs and faces, she said. The abandoned house did not have heat, water or electricity, and the floor was littered with feces and garbage, Schwartz said.
"It's apparent the children have been going there for a while," she said.
Schwartz said the woman, 35, is pregnant and has 14 children, ages 3 to 20. The six oldest children previously had been removed from her custody by child-welfare officials, and the remaining children were removed Thursday, authorities said.
I have a feeling it was probably multiple someones.
This is what bugs me: "The six oldest children previously had been removed from her custody by child-welfare officials," And she was still allowed to have more? I agree with you Ruby, the Darwin Law should have been put into effect with this woman.
child welfare previously took 6 kids but left 8 there ? WTF is that all about ?
and let me guess .. the good people of Wisc. have been feeding them all for years
side note- any women drawing a welfare check for kids should be required to take birth control . If she shows up at the office pregnant, cut off all benifits. Forever.
Horrible! People like this woman should be slowly tortured to death. After all, that is what she was doing to her kids. Reminds me of a lady here in KC who about 5 years back abused her twin boys to death. The actual cause of death, believe it or not, was starvation. Most days she barely fed them as it was, but she got mad at them for some minor thing and decided to beat them then lock them in their room for several days. Their bodies were found huddled together in their bedroom closet.

As I have said many times...ther is more to being a parent than the bilogical act....the hard part starts when they need support, nurtiring, discipline and all the other things that go into being a good parent.
The type of case even sadder than the one mentioned is the type of mom that drinks or does drugs while the baby is still in the womb.
I have a lot of issues with former govenor Tommy Thomson. BUT the one thing he did do was implement the welfare to work program here in wisconsin. No lazy a$$es anymore are sittin around waiting for that check simply to come in anymore.
Man o man did and do the welfare folks continue to whine about havin to work now for their money.......and the agencies set up to pull this off are all corrupt and filled with theives.....but then again so is the state government that set this up......
what a world.
