I saw it in a magazine yesterday- about $70. But seeing it on ebay for $50- prerelease. It comes out the 31st!

The Pink Panther is - paws down - the world's grooviest cartoon star. In 1964, this pink-inked feline slinked onto the opening credits of Blake Edwards' caper film by the same name and threatened to steal the entire show. Sleek, sophisticated and witty, the animation, produced by Friz Freleng and David H. DePatie, was a stylish departure from its contemporaries... and an instant hit. A subsequent short film, The Pink Phink, would go on to win an Oscar and spawn a celebrated series of six-minute cartoons featuring the sly cat. Now, for the first time, 124 cartoons produced by Freleng and DePatie between 1964 and 1980 are collected here in a swingin' 5-disc set. With over 14 hours of "pink comedy," you can't help but lick your whiskers!

Theatrical Release Date:   1964
Theatrical Running Time:   782 minutes
MPAA Rating: NR
Special Features:
Behind the Feline: The Cartoon Phenomenon
Pink Patter with Art Leonardi: the Story Behind the Animation

He was created to entertain the deaf. That is why he never talked! I know later he did, but not the originals. I have a bunch of pink panther shirts, panties, etc,

There will never be anyone that could fill the shoes of Peter Sellers.  Sorry Ruby, but won't watch it  sometimes a classic needs to be just left alone.

I agree with CP to a good extent ,  I think what'll make this film sucessful will be - none of the people seeing it have seen the originals. not too many people in their 20's and 30's watch Turner Classic or channels like it.

side note- you know what irks my azz ? when I see/hear a joke on tv or in a movie that everyone in the world thinks is the greatest . And I'm like gee , didn't so and so do this in 1940 something ? The actors should have to hold up a sign -  Bob Hope did this joke this in ' 36 as they speak thier lines.

Isn't that the truth dave.  My girls were listening to some music and were beyond shocked that I knew the lyrics.  I told them it was a remake from the late 70's.  Yes, and now you all know by this admission and by daves gentle nudging that I am the ancient one here.

the very best I ever saw was this show with 2 " cool " guys who did the abott and costello gag of guessing the card over the phone , - bud would call lou and say a "key " word , lou would start counting ace 2, 3, then when he hit the the right # bud would say something innocent sounding , then lou would start the suits , another " innocent " word , then bud would hand the phone to the person holding the card and lou would " guess it " .

they never did this in a movie , saw it on biography. guess the writer saw it too and figured he could slip that in the script. heck I'll bet they all thought he was brilliant and gave him a raise.

Me too, they are true classics.  I just cannot get into Power Puff girls or whatever is the fad today.
