i LIKE THAT ziM. The ren fest weddings are neat. a freind of mine did this as well. ( seems to be popular) They rented teh Castle of Muskogee which is a beautiful castle that was awesome. they also had a simple reception and the whole thing cost them under 5000.
I had the standard over the top wedding. 7 bridesmaids and groomsmen each, 2 flower girls, 4 ushers, etc. The only problem was that we got married during the great flood of 93. Our county is squished between the Illinois and the Mississippi Rivers (a peninsula, if you will). Our first choice hall flooded, our second choice hall flooded, our third choice hall flooded a week and a half before the wedding. Our caterer said they would not cater in the only place available for us to use (a tavern and they were altar society of our church). They also said they would not drive to the place where we finally booked the reception because it was too far. So a week and a half before the wedding I had to find a new caterer in a county that had all these displaced people because of the flood. We were under a boil order and tempers were high. We got it all together and had our wedding. It turned out lovely and was a great day. It was the only wedding that summer and people really needed to let loose. The dance that night was packed! Where we live the wedding and reception are by invitation only, but people will usually show up for the wedding dance that night even if they don't know you. It's a small town thing.

Myndi- You and I are on the same page. I got engaged right before christmas. Actually the month of December was renamed "The Month of Dawn" as to how great it was.
Engagement, Birthday, Christmas. It couldn't have gotten better.
The big day is November 18th, which I've been told is sacreligious on account it's the first day of hunting season here. Bah. I dont' hunt. I don't care.
As I have often told, the fiance and I are quite the beer lovers. So. our reception is at a microbrewery in town.
No real theme, other than the beer thing. BTW: JD and Riggs. I still don't have a DJ. bother.
Thanks! the last month has been hectic, but exciting. After we got the church and the reception site, everything else has fallen into place. There are still a few things to work on , but I'm not worried.
Im not a material person- i already have my house and everything in it. i do not need anything from my guests- i just want everyone to come and have a kick butt time! Play a little shoes, volleyball, do a little dancin- just going to be a wild out party! My fiance's family and my family are just a bunch of people who like to have a good time- and that day will be the best time. i could care less about gifts!
I went to a wedding when I was about 12. It was all outdoorsy & up in the mountains. Everything was really small & homey until the reception. They had a roasted pig. It was a whole piglet. I remember it had green olives for eyes & it's tail was pointing straight up. It actually made some of the younger kids cry when they started carving it. I figured I'd rather starve than eat that so I didn't even try any of it. Honestly...I don't think I'd try it today either.
