Favorite part of tonights address...

Hindsight alone is NOT wisdom, and second guessing is NOT a strategy.

AMEN BROTHER!

That is all.

Off to bed.

I wish our leaders would either help the Heath care/cost situation or quit promising they are going to fix it. Too many years we've been promised that they're going to lower the cost of heath care and make insurance affordable. Clinton was promising this in his first term, Bush is still promising it today. I've not seen any changes yet.

did you see that Cyndi Sheenan was arrested for wearing a shirt with a number on it to this pomp and circumstance media event? Bush went on with his schtick on valuing freedom, not just for americans, but for everyone.....

I had heard she was detained, not arrested.

I also heard she was toting a banner she wanted to unfold during the ceremony.

She's a classless little **** who's 15 minutes is far over. Her son re-enlisted AFTER the war started and WANTED to go back. Stop crapping on his memory to further your own agenda Cindy.

You know, this isn't new for her. She was a raging democrat before she lost her son. This is just something that finally gave her a stage to abuse.

The office of President deserves respect regardless of if you agree with the person or not. The State of the Union is not the place for her little BS parade.

The Dems showed their lack of class when they stood and cheered after Bush said his social security reform was not passed.

I'm sorry, but since Clinton was getting blow jobs in the oval office the position of President is not respected anymore. I blame him for that. He brought the position down to a level every trailor trash Jerry Springer guest thinks they're on the same level of.

No. From the bottom of my heart I do not beleive she is.

I honestly, truthfully beleive she barely cares about her son at this point, this is a personal crusade she started long before he died in Iraq and now for once in her sad life she's being heard. That's what I think this about.

Have you actually heard this woman speak? I mean REALLY heard her? Not just a ten word sound bite, but a full speech? If her IQ is over 90 I'd be shocked.

I'm sorry she lost her son. 4,000+ other parents have too. It doesn't mean we pull out of the war and make his death meaningless.

The woman actually makes me sick to my stomach. I think she's the worst kind of person, using a personal loss to further her own agenda without even a hint of a better plan for success.

The only thing that will make me happy when Bush is out of office is that maybe, just maybe, this woman will crawl back into her hole and disappear. Because make no mistake about it, she is nothing but a tool for the Bush hating left right now. When he's gone they'll have no use for her.

I can't say that I've ever heard one word spoken from her mouth. It must take a lot of time, money and energy tho to stand up against the powers that be and to be a voice that even the president wants shut. It seems like he wants a lot of voices shut.

I don't know anything about this lady you are talking about so didn't have anything to add.

Security stopped Sheehan at the door and detained her for her clothing and banner. Don't kid yourself into thinking Bush concerns himself with her. Not even when she's showboating on his personal doorstep for a month at a time.

It does cost a lot for her to "stand up" though. She can thank all of her liberal friends for giving her a job she never probably imagined she'd have. Now she just makes a living touring the country and giving speaches.

How can you seriously even try to defend a woman that you admit you've never even heard speak?

The fact she lost a son gives her carte blanche in your mind to do an say anything she wants and we should just lap it up like dogs?

Come on JD, atleast know what she's really like before you try to defend her. This is why the democrats are losing ground so quickly in every facet of the government. They hook their wagon to anything that moves, regardless of content.

God bless the democrats for the Howard Deans and Cyndi Sheehans of the world. They keep making these types of people their poster children and ensure that true moderate Americans will NEVER vote democrat.

At least Bill Clinton understood that you have to work toward the center to win office.

**** AND THIS FOLKS, IS WHY JD & I AGREED NEVER TO TALK POLITICS ON THE AIR.

I'm the Sean Hannity, he's the Alan Combs. We duke it out for hours at a crack when election time rolls around. Then we go on the air and play nice

it is just about my bed time as well! no more debates for now Riggs! cya next election year!

man o man its a slug-fest then, but we always end up with cupcakes and smiles.

Riggs put it best when he said that we both want what's best for america, we just have different views on how it should get done.

If he were a democrat, our conversations on politics would BE BORING!! they are never boring!

Goodnight!

Correction: Bill Clinton did not save Social Security.

A budget surplus does not mean social security is saved. Basic math tells us social security does not work and we need to privatize it if we want to actually be able to rely upon it. Save yourself, don't expect your kids to do it for you.

Indeed JD.

I always say that even though your views are horribly twisted I know in your heart of hearts you beleive what you beleive because you think it's the right thing to do.

hey it was saved before mr deer in the headlights came along and stole the election by having his brother the govenor of florida rigg it!

a surplus! we had A SURPLUS INTENDED TO SAVE SOCIAL SECURITY. WE WILL NEVER HAVE THAT AGAIN!! WAY TO GO REPUBS!!

And lets not confuse the war on terror with the preconceived notion that bush had that he was going to oust Saddam to show his daddy that he could. Big oilmen have big egos.

I have a question tho- could not the CIA have simply shot 3 rounds into the heads of Saddam and his two sons, as a more efficient means of toppling his regime? If the people of Iraq wanted their freedom as bad as bush says they do, they would have seized this opportunity to then form the democratic government that he says they want and deserve.

Daddy's war.

Big Oil.

Stole The Election.

The drumbeat continues. Democrats that can't win just cry over the spilled milk. Forever.

I'm sorry JD, there's no Santa Claus either. No matter how much you stomp your feet. No matter how long you hold your breath. It's mommy and daddy putting those presents under the tree for you.

It must be so hard to have the whole world conspiring against you. But you trudge on. The hardened Dem that just won't cave to the immense pressure.

It's a story fit for Hollywood. Must be why so many of them are liberals.

I thought you were going to bed?

See, this is what he's talking about. HINDSIGHT ALONE IS NOT WISDOM. SECOND GUESSING IS NOT A STRATEGY. That's exaclty his point.

Great plan JD. Put bullets in the head of Saddam and maybe his two sons. Then what?

Iraq just falls into place? Everyone that was loyal to Saddam says "ah what the hell, let's let the people decide what we should do".

This is not a plan. This is just arm-chair quarterbacking with no real consideration of the actual complexities involved.

here's why the privitization of social security is a stupid idea.

while still being a tax, mind you, tax, the government absolves itself of any responsibility to make good on their end to deliver anything at all for that tax....the result will be dependent on how the stock market is doing. I wonder if Bush came up with this idea while he was good friends with the Enron Folks.........

I don't think in this day and age I need the government to tell me to go invest my social security money in stocks because they can't help me. And mark my words, any smart investor would invest in emerging markets like India and China, not US companys, thus fortifying our foreign competitors with tons of US cash to help crush us as a competitor to them. I wonder if the Republicans would allow investing in foreign companies be an option for the social security tax money....

I love you republicans, I have read the republican bible. It says to never EVER admit that you are wrong!

I think one day when this whole nightmare era is put to rest, indeed if it EVER will be, Hindsight will be our greatest teacher.

And second guessing ISN'T a strategy. Neither is acting before thinking.

JD,

Let's get this going again shall we.

This is hard for a democrat to do, but let's try to think long term. The stock market, with the rare exception of the Enrons out there, performs extremely well in the long-haul. That's what retirement savings are all about.

I was just commenting to someone on my route yesterday about how I had to chuckle when I was watching an episode of Miami Vice on DVD from 1985 and one of the characters, a drug dealer that was using his thriving business as a front made a comment how he told himself he was going to buy a statue in celebration of the Dow Jones hitting 1,500.

Today we are talking about it at 11,000.

Right now social security is collected and administrative costs eat the vast majority of it up before it ever gets to the person who needs it.

At least with a Private Social Security account YOU ARE IN CONTROL! 100% of your investment goes to YOUR account and you make 100% of the interest and gains.

WHY O WHY do you democrats think government must hold your hand from birth until the grave? Are you that sure you can't control you're own finances?

Glad you're awake again buddy, but now when are you gonna WAKE UP?

I don't see me government as holding my hand at all when easily 22 + % of my check each week goes towards taxes. I see important issues such social security and affordable health care as their duty.

I would LOVE if America could hold a referandum "Where do you want your tax money to go, and in what %". It would be a better America by and for the people.

Well, on that point I would agree with you. Although you might be disappointed in some of the results.

I think there'd be a lot fewer governemnt assistance programs available if the people could choose where the money went.

I'd have to say that my favorite part was that he was totally unappologetic for the domestic eavesdropping.  This is not to say that I necessarily agree with the lack of warrants.  I'm just saying that it is nice to see a politician honestly take a stand on something.  His attitude was all about "Yep, I'm doing it. It's legal. You can't stop me, so deal with it." Compared with that, the Democratic rebuttal was weak and flat.  It basically came down to, "Ummm... Bush is bad.  We don't necessarily disagree with him or know how to fix the war, so bye."

We did not have a surplus. There is no such thing as a surplus. That money was spent. We were never going to see it.

Try spending less money on things we don't need (NASA, such a foreign military presence). Take care of our people at home first (homeless, hunger, schools). Correct immigration. Collect on foreign debts. Actually acting on some of these things would allow the government to reduce the deficit, rework the health care system and even rewrite the tax code. We all know what the social security issue is a result of here. More of our parents generatio than ours. The government knew it was going to happen. They give Americans a hard time for not saving enough, but all they had to do was put a little money away each year for the last number of years and we wouldn't have this problem, or at least it wouldn't be as big of a burden that they are making it out to be. Do as I say and not as I do.
