Another of my beloved and CLASSIC 80's TV shows is on DVD today.
Season two of Moonlighting is out! I can't wait to go get it!
This season is only 14 episodes though, because if you'll recall that show was full of turmoil. They never got the scripts and filming done in time, in part because it was such a dialogue driven show, but also in big part because Willis and Shephard were constantly at each others throats.
In five seasons they never had a full 22 episodes. In fact, in the entire run they only managed SIXTY SEVEN episodes!
During season three Don Johnson was holding out for more money, it caused the show to have to be shot and shown out of order, so even though his famous black car gets destroyed early in the season it reappers without explanation during a later episode.
Michael Mann got Johnson to return to the set after he started interviewing Mark Harmon to replace him!
It's weird, because in the 80's this was big news, but I had all but forgotten about the turmoil in these two shows since then.
I remember always reading that Phillip Michael Thomas was a big problem too. He supposedly had a HUGE ego and felt he was the star of the show. I think he recorded his own album shortly after Don Johnson did, but of course it flopped.
