Oops she did it again

Sorry to share this, but it has been all over the news. I just needed to say she is a dumb as she looks!

NEW YORK (AP) -- Britney Spears defended photographs showing the pop star driving with her infant son on her lap, saying she was dodging the paparazzi.

Several photos published Tuesday showed Spears driving her SUV with her son, Sean Preston, perched on her lap rather than strapped into a car seat in the back seat. Spears said she did it because of a "horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi."

The photos show Spears holding the wheel of the car with one hand, and her 4-month-old baby in the other. A person is shown sitting in the passenger seat next to Spears. (Watch women of The View, Kelly Ripa chastise Spears -- 3:35)

"I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger," Spears said in a statement released late Monday.

"I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us," she said. "I love my child and would do anything to protect him."

A spokesman for the Department of Children and Family Services, declined to offer any comment on the incident.

"We don't say who, what or if we're investigating," Stu Riskin said.

Sheriff's deputies, meanwhile, won't be pressing any charges, Deputy Luis Castro said.

"Unless a deputy saw the violation, there's nothing we can do," Castro said. "We don't even know if this took place in our jurisdiction."

The agency that snapped the photos, X17, said the pictures were taken "in a very peaceful context, in which photographers exhibited no aggressive behavior."

"We believe that the pictures speak for themselves," the agency said in a statement.

Spears gave birth to her son in September. He is her first child with husband of one year, former backup dancer Kevin Federline.

Hm, believe the paparazzi or Britney Spears? This is a hard one. The paparazzi is known for being overly aggressive, and many actors and actresses have taken desperate measures to get away from them. But then, look who we're talking about, I don't put it past her to do something like that.

I heard that Britney was shown smiling and at ease & that her bodyguard was next to her also with no concern. None of them had their seat belts on. Was their even a car seat in the vehicle?

What next? Her with a cigarette in her mouth and her child in the other arm and validating it by saying she was relieving stress so she wouldn't take it out on the child? Just proves the old adage true - You have to have a license to own a dog, but any fool can have a child.

What I noticed about the picture was her window was rolled down a bit. If you are fearful why park with your window open  for them to harass you more? It was all wrong. Why have the baby on your lap playing in the car? She made a huge error in judgement.

I saw the pictures as well... it did not appear to me that she was frightened in the least.  Someone was with her in the vehicle, so I do not understand what would be the excuse.  She could have had the other person either drive or put the child in the car seat if she was so afraid of the situation.

The long and short of it is that the little moron got lucky that she didn't hit something to where her airbags would have deployed.

Here's more info and pics for anyone interested: Britney Spears Driving with Baby On Lap

I can't believe I'm saying this, everyone, please sit down, but in this case, I actually believe her. Now, I'm not saying she's a responsible parent, or that she hasn't driven without her baby in a car seat before, but in my opinion, the pictures do seem to support her story.

I do not see that in those pictures Molly, but I could be persuaded to think that way??? She seems to be just driving along with someone else that could have held the baby while she drove to a safer location?

Only a couple pics appear to have the car in motion. Others do look like it's just her and baby, in the parked car, like this one:

I realize that, it is just when she leaves, she made an error. Hey I make them all the time!

Her story is that she drove her bodyguard to Starbucks, and while he was inside, she got her baby out of the car seat and was playing with him. Then the paparazzi came, the bodyguard came out of Starbucks, hopped in the car, and she took off asap. Maybe not the smartest thing to do, but, this time, I don't condemn her decision. I don't condone it either, and I really don't like her, but I think any other celebrity with a baby could've done the same thing. I do have to admit that I'm impressed that she's actually spending time with her baby instead of just handing him off to some nanny.

Well- he cheated on his last wife/girlfriend? Not sure if they were married. He has some kind of prenupt that assures him at least a million if they split, so I think it is a matter of time. It is not her though I blame, she believes that he will be different with her cause he loves her. But it is a pattern that is not easily broken. Who cares if she gains a 100 pounds either- he should still love her!

I agree...but you and I arent celebrities...I believe marriage is forever...but celebrities somehow feel they are above hardship and what relationship doesnt have a few hardships to endure?

aw jeez I was already helping my dad steer the car by the time I was that kids age, taking a sip of his beer as I grabbed him one from the cooler on the passenger seat. It was the 1970's and thats just the way things were back then.

The back seat was just a big trampoline to jump on while yelling "go faster dad!" or "hit the brakes!" or "turn right now!!" and it would send us flying about the car. that was the fun of cars.

Some of the best wrestling matches between me, my brother, and my dad happened in the car. If you jumped on dad's head, he'd throw you at the back windshield. We never had an accident.

Today I heard that this is not the first time that Britney has been caught driving with the baby in her arms. She was seen buying a car seat and then not using it when she got to the car. Also K-Fed just tried to take the baby to go & get his ears pierced. The baby is only 4 months old! Britney stopped him. I feel for the kid.

JD I see your point. BUT the paparazzi is not following your car and you did not have air bags. So although in the past things were a little safer, for her, it was not.

I dont think its fair for the entire country to say shes a bad mom b/c she made a silly mistake. we do not and will not ever know the circumstances of the event, and I think its unfair to pass judgement. if britney wasnt a celebrity-  and this situation had happened, it would just be an every day thing. i see people all the time with thier kids in thier laps driving or bouncing all around the back seats.. its stupid and its dangerous... but people do it. it doesnt necessarily make them a terrible person, or mother. Its just unfair of the country to pass judgement.

Besides Brittney has two soft siliconized aigbags to ensure a soft landing for the baby in the event she is in an accident and her steering wheel airbag goes off!

LOL JD!

Lighten up Myndi- we are just making observations! When you choose to be a celebrity, there are rules you have to follow and they all know they are being watched closely. BUT they are being paid handsomely to live that way! So they made that choice!

I believe I am a very fair person, but if someone is putting their child in an unsafe situation, such as not watching them, or not putting them in a carseat or seatbelt, I do pass that judgement that they are not a good parent.

I don't know whether or not Britney is a bad mom, but her actions in general make me question if she is responsible enough to have a child. I do believe her that this is an extraneous circumstance though, this time.

i think its very funny how in this forum, every time i say my piece, people feel the need to tell me to calm down... i dont get defensive- i just voice my opinnion- yeah- shes a celebrity... she lives in the limelight- but that doesnt give an entire country the right to make her feel like crap. im sure she feels like crap as it it. anyhow... who cares. im just not going to voice opinnions around here. doesnt get me very far, i have different views from the people here, and i often times feel shut out and attacked. perhaps ill just stick to counting, seems that doent make too many people harp down my throat....

Nah, Don't  do that Myndi, we value your opinnion very much! Let it out Sister! Personally I judge her as an air head, but having a 15 month old daughter myself I would have never put her in harms way like that. If it was a worst case scenario, I might have driven up the block and then made sure she was belted in tight!

But don't pipe up on our account, that's what discussions are for.
