I think that was it.

She had to deal with getting the boy in line at school again.

It seems so... quiet without her.

Thanks for the concern- never made it to work- BUT! I went to my first of many meetings about the boy. It went very well. All of his teachers showed up but one (the one he has been failing all year-back to that in a minute.) and the principal- who I never had met before. We just went over what I knew- he is TOOO smart not to be exceling in all of his classes. They brought lists of what he needs to do and all have agreed to help him get caught up and make up everything from the last five weeks. They never mentioned the incident in the meeting. Then they all left and it was the principal and us. First we addressed the missing teacher issue. Apparently she is an issue for several students so the principal has been teaching a large group of students Social Studies- she already had the weeks lesson plan and assignments for him. He will go to her office during the normal class and she will be his teacher. She said she will erase the grades from the beginning of the year- so he has a chance to pass now!

Then we talked about the incident- it seems the boy who had the pot first was a 6th grader and they know about him and he is being searched daily now. She thinks Zach did something stupid, but that is was not ever his intention to use it. Also the knife is not an issue because she knows that he is in scouts and that it was buried in his bookbag with a bunch of junk and did not appear to be easily accessible. So she has already called the school district and asked that he be allowed back to school next week to start all over again until the school board hearing. She went out of her way to do this. She said she will also testify on his behalf on the hearing and ask that he be allowed back permanently. For now he will not be allowed a backpack at school. He is to keep books here and they will have one in each class. But he can ride th ebus and keep going to the afterschool program. He also will meet with the math teacher to try to get caught up in Algebra.

Then one of his old teachers came in and talked about how others kids have been in trouble and allowed to come back with the school's blessing. Everyone complimented him on his attitude and his ability. They saw a change already. They were glad that I am more scared than mad and they feel the same. The principal is very mad that the police were not concerned where the drugs came from and she is going to try to get a videotape from the bus that day.

SOOOO I feel better that no expulsion or private school. But we still have that hearing and of course the police to deal with. AND most of all he needs to get back to school and work. So that all remains to be seen. But I think he realizes that he screwed up and that people trust him still and know he is smart and that can't be bad.

So keep praying for us- but I am a little better now. Ok now get back to work. It is in the high 70s here and I just got little E and we are going to the park

Ruby - I am glad things are taking a turn for the better. Maybe when your son realizes that he has the support of all the people around him he will put his life back on track. Onward and upward.

Great progress! It sounds like he's at a good school. It's very refreshing to know that his teachers care about him and are willing to work with you. That'll be much more inspiring to him than just kicking him out.

Was he on probation for that spray painting thing? If not, I don't think you'll have to worry about the police. I'd bet the max he'll have is probation and maybe some community service, which would be good for him anyway. But if he's already on probation, I'm not sure what they'd do, but if the school's being so cooperative, I don't see why they would do anything that would take him out of school.

Ruby, Glad everyone sees that things are salvageable. Being a parent means being hyper vigilant. Continued prayers for your strength and perseverance.

darn!  kids just seem to have a way of stressing the p-diddy out of us parents!  glad to hear that the teachers & principal want to work through things.  my middle child (also a boy) seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time sometimes too.  hang in there ruby.  you know that you teach him good values and guide him in the right direction...  it will turn out well.
