One of my first memories is going to the circus. I remember the popcorn spilled under the bleachers, and I remember that I didn't like the clown and his shoes were too big. Apparently I was scarred for life, I still don't like clowns.
I haven't been to the circus in forever. It came through town last year. Maybe next time it comes we'll go.
I have very bad memories of the circus and haven't been to one since I was about 5.
It was during the Elephant performance and I asked my dad what the fire hose under the elephant was for... When he got up on the elephant in front of him I found out what it was for in a hurry!!

I have not gone since I was a kid, I think. One of my funniest memories, I must have been 5, was at the circus. This clown had a Beverly Hillbillies like old car- he drove it around the ring a couple of times, and it broke down. Clown gets out to check it out, finally kicks the car and turns around mad. The car's radiator cap blows off and hits him in the butt- the clown must have jumped 8 feet in the air. Then the car started chasing him. I laughed so hard the folks thought they were going to have to take me to the hospital for hyperventillation.
I don't have problems with clowns. Cept for that tearful one in that picture. that's just wrong.

Philly naturally gets the big circus - B&B - every year. It comes around late April, early May. I took my niece for her third birthday. I think she liked parts, but I think she was scared of the clowns. She wouldn't talk to the ringmaster and he was standing next to her seat. I think if I had taken her for her fourth birthday we wouold have had a better time. I am going to wait and take my other niece when she is four.
