Arch Trainer/ Elliptical Machine

Last night, I go to the Y, and all of the elliptical machines were taken. So I sign up for the next available one, and walk around the track for 20 minutes waiting for it to open up. I get on the machine I thought I signed up for and work out for about 15 minutes when a guy comes up to me and says he signed up for the machine I'm on. It turns out I was on an Arch Trainer instead of an Elliptical Machine. Does anyone know the difference? The only difference I was was that the base was different.

not sure what an Arch Trainer is, Molly. Did the arms have handles that were stationary, or did they move to, simulating cross-country skiing?

How was your work-out?

The arms moved, just like they do on the elliptical machines. I felt like I was moving the same as I did on an elliptical machine. The only difference I saw was that the arch trainer was like a frame that lifted everything off the ground instead of the base that's on the elliptical machine.

Sorry, I don't know the difference.

I didn't even know there was such a thing.

I've seen pictures but don't know what the differences are as far as benefits go.
