Growing up in the 80's!!

I received this from a HS friend of mine and wanted to pass it along.

ENJOY REMEMBERING.......

You know you grew up in the 80's if......

1.    You've ever ended a sentence with the word "SIKE."
2.    You can sing the rap to the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and can do the "Carlton."
3.    Girls wore biker shorts under their skirts and felt stylishly sexy.
4.    Two words: Hammer Pants.
5.    You wore a ponytail on the side of your head.
6.    You made your mom buy one of those clips that would hold your shirt in a knot on the side.
7.    You wore stone washed Jordache jean jackets and were proud of it.
8.     L.A.Gear....need I say more?
9.     You remember reading "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" and all the Ramona Quimby books.
10.     You know the profound meaning of "WAX ON, WAX OFF." (Rest in peace...)
11.     You ever wore fluorescent clothing. (Some of us...head-to-toe, not to mention matching!!)
12.     You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off and his cheeks lifted.
13.     You still get the urge to say "NOT" after every sentence.
14.     You ever owned a pair of Jelly-Shoes (and probably in neon colors, too. Can you say STINKY FEET!!).
15.     After you saw "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" you kept saying "I know you are, but what am I?
16.     You remember "I've fallen and I can't get up."
17.     You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates.
18.     You ever got seriously injured on a Slip and Slide.
19.     You have played with a Skip-It.
20.     You had or attended a birthday party at McDonalds.
21.     You've gone through this nodding your head in agreement.
22.     "Don't worry, be happy."
23.     You wore, like, EIGHT pairs of socks over tights with high top Reeboks.
24.     You wore socks scrunched down and sometimes still do.
25.     You remember boom boxes.
26.     You remember Alf, the li'l furry brown alien from Melmac.
27.     You remember New Kids on the Block when they were cool.
28.     You know all the words to Bon Jovi's "SHOT THROUGH THE HEART."
29.     You just sang those words to yourself.
30.     You remember watching Magic vs. Bird. Oh yeah............it will never be that good again.
31.     Homemade Levi shorts... (The shorter the better.)
32.     You remember when mullets were cool!
33.     You had a mullet!
34.     You still sing "We are the World."
35.     You tight rolled your jeans.
36.     You owned a banana clip.
37.     You remember "Where's the Beef?
38.     You used to (and probably still do) say "What you talkin' 'bout Willis?"
39.     You had big hair and you knew how to use it.

Admit it, you're still singing "Shot through the Heart" in your head, aren't you!!!
ROCK ON!!

the 80's .....   so much fun!

mtv!  we had off campus lunch at the high school i attended, so we'd go to a friends house a couple time a week to watch music videos -- sometimes we'd never make it back to afternoon classes!  we were such slackers!

early 80's i spent a lot of time in front of the tv.  we were allowed to watch magnum pi, greatest american hero, knight rider.  we were not allowed to watch (but sometimes did), falcon crest, dynasty, hill street blues.

in high school i was into glam rock!  yeah, guys pierced their ear and had big hair that rivaled the girls.  mmm tight pants!

ahhhhh, the 80's were really so diverse!

Too cute DS - my sons hair was cut just like that!  He had these awesome curls that went to his shoulders but if you stretched them out almost touched his butt.

My son recently saw a pic of his mullet days and is now wanting to grow his hair out to see if it'll still curl like that.  YIKES!!  I'm used to him being a "clean cut" type from all the sports he plays.  Oh well - could be worse, he could want a nose ring or something awful like that!

LOL - that site is funny.

I'm curious because I'm getting a haircut in about 10 minutes. My "mullet" is about 3" long now. My wife wants me to keep it about that long, but I might cut it off. My neice cuts my hair and she hates it! So, naturally, I tell her that I tell everyone I know to go see Liz for the best mullet-maintainer in town.

I just made my neice happy. I told her I was thinking about letting her cut my mullet off> Before I could even finish that sentence, it was gone. She's happy now.

I have to keep reminding myself that this is coming from a lady who's hair looks like she has a turkey sitting on her head . . . so I'm not sure how much I want to trust her judgement.

Except mine. She cringes when I come in with a hair book! Later she's ok though.

The last time I said that, she chopped off my hair and gave me a cute bob. The problem is, I'm not the cute bob type. I've been shopping around for a new hairstylist ever since, and I think I finally found one! She costs $30 for a shampoo cut and style, though!

Molly - when I hear those prices it really makes me wish I was still doing hair!!  I had to retire due to being allergic to the chemicals.

For that it costs me $35. Highlights are $65-$75 depending on how many I want. i don't have any right now.

I don't get highlights, just cut. I used to have very wavy hair, and then it started to go flat, so I got it permed, but my hair's been natural for the past couple years. Other than the perm and the one time I did the Sun-In thing, I keep my hair pretty natural. I rarely even use hairspray. So it makes my hair pretty easy to cut, but for around Bloomington, $30 is a little more than most charge.

The last time I went to have my hair done, which was only about a year ago, it was only @$20 with tip included.  I thought THAT was high!
