Cars and Blondie Tour

I just got an email that they are coming here and I can buy tickets early because I am part of a local radio group. Anyway the tickets are $87 a piece.

PLEASE DO NOT FLATTER YOURSELF! I mean neither band is even in original format. If they would have been that much for two then ok- but I am not spending that kind of money!

The Cars without Ric Ocasek are NOT the cars.

Who'd waste their money on that!

Yeah.  Guess we'll find out, once we see how they sell.

I saw the blondie reunion tour at summerfest a few years ago. I almost had to weep. Debbie Harry looks like Debbie Harry's grandma up there....its just.....sad.....

Ah Jeez, here we go again with the aging thing.  With the exception of the weight gain, I think she looks good.  The woman is in her 60's, afterall.

Its like when my brother and his buddy came back from the auto show years ago. The Byrds were playing. The only original member is the drummer......

D'oh!

I knew that comment would stir up Lady Strange.

I think when an artist is as HOT as Blondie was (looks wise), the fall is a lot greater as she ages.

An average looking person the decline isn't so noticable.

That's all. We all age, it's a fact of life. It's also a fact of life that as we age we tend to lose the features that made us attractive in our younger days. It's just how it is. No offense intended to Blondie. She's just not hot anymore. In fact, she's quite cold.

well, I am for it if they can earn another few hundred grand and are ok with being a nostalgia act. $87 a tic? I can't wait to see their 50th reunion tour. They'll be there.

Darn tootin' that stirred me up!  You don't know - It's so hard for women!  It makes me wanna crawl into a hole sometimes, I swear!  Getting old stinks for all of us, but it's just not the same for guys.  (Although the hair loss thing, which mostly happens to guys - that's not fun, I'm sure.)

And as far as Debbie (She does have a name, Riggs!  ) Yes, it doesn't get any hotter than her.  As far as I'm concerned, she is the sexiest woman who ever lived, and though older and fatter, she still is sexy.  Let's put aside her immense talent for a moment, and just go with her looks.  (Which is probably difficult to separate for me, because she is one of my idols, and the talent is amazing.  And she still has that TOTAL presence and rock star attitude.  Quite honestly, when she looks directly at me, I feel faint...  And her speaking voice?  She has one of the sexiest speaking voices ever!)  But yeah, OK, let's just go with the looks:  Her best physical feature in my opinion?  Those lips!  They are the most sultry, beautifully shaped lips I've ever seen in my life.  And they are still there, and still looking as sexy as ever.  The shape of her face, the eybrow arch?  Oh my God!

Don't get me wrong LS, if I was in my 50's I'd probably think she was hot, but I'm in my 30's, so I think she's not

I agree, it's easier for men to age, and that's not fair, but I stand by my earlier statement. The hotter you are the bigger the fall.

I used to ADORE Patty Smyth, I thought she was the sexiest singer out there, but I'm sorry, today she is VERY plain. There's nothing wrong with that! It's not the wrapper that matters, it's what's inside.

It's not like I'm saying I'd want to dump Blondie if I were married to her because she got old, I'm just saying that ALL of us lose our looks when we get older. It's most noticable in those extremely pretty people.

I like how you stick up for these guys though! I think it's great that you see their inner beauty shining through whatever happens to their shell! That's the way it SHOULD be.

I will go with the hotter they are, the harder they fall statement.  Sad but true.

Ugh, I should just kill myself now...

Very fittingly, this brings a song to mind - The Blondie song off of their "Eat To the Beat" album:  "Die Young - Stay Pretty."

I guess that is why the tour is titled: The New Cars & Blondie: Road Rage Tour 2006

They are not headed for Philly. At least, not as of now.

You better not let your manager hear that. As a businesswoman, she will tell you that you will be eating into the profits if you give too many of those passes away.

Now, for a stalker like me, I will just meet you backstage.

Are you implying that I couldn't just surface on my own.

What do you think I am taking the stalker lessons for?

You are taking them for nothing....you could just get the pass for free...either way I make no money, so why make it harder on yourself?

I keep meaning to post this. I am surprised that Dave did not mention it.

THE NEW CARS & BLONDIE CONCERT SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 18 AT THE COLISEUM HAS BEEN CANCELED

Refunds Available at Point of Purchase

Due to a band member’s injury, The New Cars & Blondie concert scheduled for the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday, June 18th has been canceled.

Elliot Easton, founding member and guitarist for The New Cars, fractured his left clavicle while en route from their show on June 4 at The Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, OH to Washington DC. The band was asleep when the tour bus swerved to avoid a vehicle during the early morning hours of Monday, June 5th. Easton was thrown from his bunk and injured.

Ticket refunds are available at point of purchase.

NEW CARS' ELLIOT EASTON GOES IN FOR REPAIRS
NATIONAL ROAD RAGE TOUR TAKES A PIT STOP

Los Angeles, CA (June 12, 2006) – Elliot Easton, founding member and guitarist for The New Cars had surgery today for a broken left clavicle sustained during a near crash when their tour bus swerved to avoid a vehicle on Monday, June 5, while on the road for The New Cars Road Rage Tour 2006 with Blondie.

Determined to not miss any dates, Elliot continued to play.  “I’ve been waiting 17 years for this tour,” Easton told his doctor when was getting his x-rays, although, due to the severity of the break Easton requires surgery.

Elliot is currently in New York under the care of Dr. Steven Yang following the procedure to repair the broken left clavicle with plate and screws as the bones are too far apart to mend properly without surgery.  Without the surgery Elliot could have limited use of left shoulder.

Said Debbie Harry of Blondie, “It was amazing that after the accident Elliot played four more shows in a brace and in constant pain.  He really tried his best to keep on playing so he should be given a great deal of credit for that.  We all wish him a speedy recovery.”

Ticket holders should contact their point of purchase for more information.

Now in stores, The New Cars: It’s Alive, a live greatest hits compilation of classic Cars’ hits with three new studio tracks performed by The New Cars (Eleven Seven Music).  The New Cars are original Cars’ members guitarist Elliot Easton and keyboardist Greg Hawkes, vocalist/guitarist Todd Rundgren, fellow Utopia bassist/vocalist Kasim Sulton and former Tubes drummer Prairie Prince.
