Yesterday I noticed that Sami's (the cat not pictured) ear was really dirty. I've seen this in other cats before: ear mites. So I got some medication and ear cleaning stuff, and when I got home, we started treatment. We now look like we fought some arduous battle. Sami gave me a few good scratches, Jack gave Brian some good scratches, and we all smell like ear mite solution. We gave them some special canned food, and that was enough to make Sami happy, but Jack's still pissed.
They dont know you are trying to help them, they only know they are in pain...in alot of ways pets are harde4r to deal with than kids, because you cant communicate with them verbally...although there are kids no one can communicate with either.
Hopefully the kitty with the sore ear will feel better soon
He's forgiven me and even slept at my feet last night. He'll even let me pick him up again. But I'm sure if I reach for that bottle, I'll get a back-foot-claw induced gash across my stomach.
The funny part is, comparatively, he was being nice to us. He had a bad experience at the vet, so he's very finnicky about anyone else touching him. He physically attacked the vet last time, and the assistant wouldn't get him out of the cage when I came to pick him up the last time. So, I didn't want to pay the legal charges if we took him to the vet to do it.
my mom's cat had fleas once, but it HATED the flea powder. She got around this by pouring the powder onto the cat brush and then brushing the cat. The cat knew it was being duped, but could not resist the fact that it loves being brushed.

It's good that he gets over the moodiness quickly. My cats generally do too. The only grudge carrier is my 17 yr old cat, but hey... he gets to be cranky because he's old.

That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.
He gets over it with Mz and her hubby okay, but not with strangers so much. He absolutely hates that vet.
And unfortunately JD, this isn't a powder, it's a liquid that she has to put in their ears. So, she could probably get one ear while they were sleeping, but they'd dart off before she could get the other.
Probably not. There's also the shaking problem. The first thing they do is shake the stuff out of their ears and it goes everywhere. That's why they did it in the kitchen. I don't think Mz wants her bedroom to smell like ear mite solution.
But, it's over now, and hopefully they won't have to do it again. I know she's keeping an eye on Sami's ear that was the problem, so if she sees even the smallest sign of them coming back, she can whisk Sami off to the vet and hopefully leave Jack alone.
